Recap From Last Time:
A while later Aiden, Travis and I were all in Aiden’s room just hanging out. But when I say hanging out I mean they were excluding me when they were playing x-box. They seriously don’t know how to share. I walked over to the bean bag chair that Aiden was sitting on while he was racing Travis at Need For Speed: Underground and sat on his lap like it was nothing.
He paused the game and wrapped his arm around me before starting the game back up again. I leaned my head back onto his shoulder, feeling sleepy again. About a half hour went by and they were still playing the game. Not that I minded much, I was comfortable. Just as I was about to fall asleep I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
I pulled it out and looked at the called ID. It was my parents. “Hey mom, dad. How’s it going?” I asked, letting out a little yawn. I must have caught Aiden’s attention when I said mom and dad because he paused the game again to look at me.
“IS IT TRUE?! IS MY ONE AND ONLY SON A FAG?”
Aiden’s POV
I was in the middle of kicking Travis’ ass on the X-Box when Brandon came over and sat with me. To be honest, I was kind of glad. I wanted him to come over a while ago but I didn’t want to have to put up with Travis’ crap. He would definitely have something to say if I stopped the game just to have Brandon come over and sit with me. Something about me being whipped or something in that general area.
After he came over I paused the game and after he was all settled on my lap I wrapped my arms around him and stared to play the game again. He leaned his head on my shoulder. I think he was tired again. That medication must be some strong shit. Travis and I continued to play for about an hour or so when I felt a vibrating on my leg. I was wondering what the hell it could be but my question was answered a second later when a half asleep, adorable Brandon reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
He looked down at the screen and made a face. A face that I have realized he only makes when his parents call. It is a face that holds hope and happiness but he also tried to cover it up because I know that he doesn’t want to be disappointed when he hears whatever it is they are about to say. You see, most of the time when they call it is just to tell him that he is going to have some more money transferred into his bank account because they are going to stay wherever they are for a while longer. Who knows, maybe this time will be different.
“Hey mom, dad. How’s it going?” he said into the phone with the slightest little yawn that I almost missed if I hadn’t paused the game to make sure that Brandon was going to be fine at the end of this call. If he was upset at the end of this call it wouldn’t be the first time. I know that I said he likes to try and cover up the hope that he has. But in the end he can’t hide it from me because I know that he is troubled almost every time that he gets off the phone with them. He honestly believes that they don’t love him the way that they should love their child. And to be honest I agree with him. They neglect him all the time. I am surprised they are even calling right now.
I saw and felt Brandon tense up. He saw still holding the phone to his ear but he didn’t seem to be listening to what was being said anywhere. He wasn’t listening to what his parents were saying and he wasn’t listening to Travis when he asked what was up. I wrapped my arms tighter around him showing him that I was here and that whatever seemed to be his problem right now it would be okay.
