Eventually,Hopper went to the Wheelers' house, where Mike, Lucas, and Dustin were sitting together thinking how they were going to track down Will and bring him back home.  They were convinced he was still alive and well.  Finally arrived with his police car, he went to the front door and rang the bell.

"Hello Chief Hopper, what is the occasion for you ringing my doorbell? I've already told your colleagues everything I know about Will Byers", miss Wheeler said.

"Excellent, however,I am not here for you Karen and please call me Jim.  Are your son's friends also here ?"

"Yes, they are.  They are in the basement, come in."

Hopper stepped down the stairs and suddenly he heard their whispers disappear.  They had stopped talking, so Hopper realized they were up to something.  Of course,he didn't let them know he knew, otherwise they wouldn't tell him immediately what they wanted to do.  Hopper caught them right when they were making their plans to seek Will.  The moment he walked down the stairs, the three boys were discussing how they would do it.  They would go out that same evening.  They were pretty sure Will wasn't dead and also that he didn't flee away.  Will loves his family and friends too much. He would never abandon them.

After Hopper's subtle interrogation, he learned that just like him, the children were convinced that Will is alive.  He questioned the boys for a few hours and then left.  He left again without any clue where Will could be.  The children could also not find an answer to this question.  however Hopper will keep a close eye on the children because he knew they were up to something.

In his blazer, he took his walkie talkie and contacted a colleague.

"This is Chief Jim Hopper, I want you to keep a close eye on those friends of Will; Lucas, Mike, and Dustin. Over"

"Yes sir, over"

Hopper took is phone out and saw Joyce had tried to call him several times.

"Shit, why does I put my cell phone always on silence when I get the most important calls."

Hopper dialed Joyce's number as quickly as possible and called her back.  She did not answer her phone, making Hopper very nervous.  He trembled with fear that something might have happened to her.  He jumped into his blazer and drove to her house.

Hopper was driving on the driveway and already saw Joyce standing outside.  He sighed in relief, he was glad she was okay.  He had just gotten out of his car and Joyce flew around his neck, hugging him.  He hugged her back and immediately fel internal happiness.  He hadn't felt this way for a long time.

"I'm sorry Jim."

He wanted to kiss her.
