"I'm gunna take my horse to the old town road," everyone in the car yelled, "I gunna, RIDE!" Everyone burst out laughing.
Peter, Olivia, Aidan, Caleb, Dexter and I had decided that we needed to hang out. We had just graduated two weeks ago and we were going camping to celebrate.
"We're almost there." Peter said from the front seat. We all decided to go in Peter's truck so we could put all of our stuff in the back. Unfortunately there there were only five seats, and there were six of us. I was riding along side them on my motorcycle.
Olivia stuck her head out the window. Her orange hair flew wildly. Aidan saw her and did the same. He faked a hair flip and shook his head. His short blonde hair didn't do the same thing. I sighed.
"Hey look!" Caleb shouted. He pointed forward and we all looked. There was a small parking lot and a sign the said: Welcome to the Weeping Forest! Peter parked the truck and I parked beside him. We all stepped out and walked to the back of the truck. Everyone grabbed there bag and we walked off into the forest.
After half and hour of walking we reached a nice spot of grass. There was a fallen tree and a couple other ones still standing that formed a circle.
"Here works." Peter said. Olivia, Aidan and Caleb all cheered. I slung my bag off my shoulder and started to set up my tent. It took me a few frustrating minutes but I eventually set it up.
"Hey Hannah? Can I have some help?" Caleb said.
"Sure!" I said, walking over to help him. "Why isn't Aidan helping you?"
"He's eating his marshmallows already." He replied. I sighed. We finished setting up the tent and I went back over to my tent to lay down my sleeping bag. I unzipped the front and crawled in.
"Oh, hey babe!" Dexter said. Startled, I fell on my face. I looked up, he chuckled and ran his hand through his jet black hair.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, pushing myself into my knees. I brushed myself off.
"We're sharing a tent obviously." He said, lying down and putting his hands behind his head. "Olivia and Peter, and Aidan and Caleb. You know, the couples." I sighed and put my sleeping bag down right beside him. After that I walked right back outside.
Aidan and Caleb were trying to start a fire. It was going terribly. Olivia came over to try to help them but they still couldn't start it. I looked around and saw Peter looking at them quite unimpressed. Olivia called him over and he tied his shoulder length blonde hair into a ponytail to keep his hair out of his face. He was able to start the fire.
I walked off not to far into the woods and found three thick logs. I clapped my hands once and walked over to them. I grabbed one and started dragging it back to camp. I took it to the campsite and laid the log down beside the fire.
"We can sit around the fire on these." I said, "there are two more." I turned on my heel and walked away to get the other logs.
"I'll help." Peter said.
"Ok, cool." I said back. He followed me to the other logs and started to drag one of them back. As I bent down to grab the log I heard a sound. I stood up straight and froze. I closed my eyes and tried to listen. I let go of the log and walked closer to the sound.
Soon enough I could tell what the sound was. It sounded like crying. I was tempted to go closer and check it out but decided against it. A thick fog rolled in and I couldn't see much ahead of me. In the far distance I saw something that looked like a wall of a house. I looked up to the sky. It was getting late and dark. This was definitely not creepy at all. I started to back up.
"Nope." I whispered to myself. I whirled around and ran to the log. I picked up one end of it and dragged it back as fast as I possibly could. I reached camp and basically threw the log in its place. I raced over to my tent. I unzipped it, crawled inside, reached into my bag and pulled out my marshmallow bag. I went back outside and sat on the log beside Dexter. I cuddled close to him. He looked down at me and smiled. I half smiled back.
Everyone else was sitting around the fire. They each had there own bag of marshmallows and a stick. Olivia handed me one and I put two marshmallows on it. I held them over the fire along with everyone else's. We all took our toasted marshmallows and put them on graham crackers with a piece of milk chocolate.
"This is so good!" Aidan said. We all looked to him and laughed. He had chocolate all over his face. I sighed. I finished mine and looked out into the trees.
"We should tell ghost stories!" Dexter said. Everyone agreed and Aidan told one first. He talked about some weird tree/spirit monster. An old lumberjack thats soul was trapped in a tree and he tried to kill people. I stopped listening almost as soon as he started. Caleb and Dexter did too but I wasn't paying attention. I just kept looking at the trees. Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I smiled. Yah! That's all it was. I sighed and started listening just in time to hear Olivia start her ghost stories. I wish I hadn't listened.
"This is a story about an abandoned haunted mansion somewhere deep in the Weeping Woods." Olivia started. "It's known as, the House That Wept."
