Olivia's POV
I cry. Even if I could stop, I wouldn't want to. It hurts so bad. Like a knife being driven into my heart. I start to turn around, but stop. I can't. I curl into a ball on the floor and continue to cry. Why did things have to be like this. I don't want to go on without everyone. Then the tears come to a halt and I am pulled into darkness.
I hear the sound of a heartbeat, and all I can see is black and a red, thing. It throbs in time with the heat. The heartbeat starts out slow, but quickly speeds up. Like the body that the heart belongs to is panicking. It makes my stomach churn. Then a voice speaks over the pounding. A female voice. It is loud and harsh. Claire.
"You have survived the night." It says, "congratulations! You have won." It laughs. "But in the end, I guess you haven't really."
My eyes snap open and I gasp. I bolt upright and look around me. Tears form in my eyes again. I wipe them and stand up using the stair rail for support. I look to the floor, Hannah and Dexter are gone. I hang my head as I walk towards the door, the entrance, the exit. As soon as I touch it, it slowly opens. A long creak fills the air. I don't look back as I step out of the house. I take a deep breath in as I walk down the steps of the porch. Still silent I walk down the path and out the gate. Still nothing. I feel nothing. Like my soul has been sucked out. I walk through the forest, past the lake and arrive at our campsite. I stand in the middle and then I break.
I fall to my knees with a loud, blood curdling scream. I keep screaming as tears fill my eyes and pour down my face. I cry as if someone is nearby, coming to help. Telling me it'll be ok, but no one comes. No one will. I look up, and through the tears and the tree, I see my friends in the forest.
"Guys!" I yell. I get to my feet and run into the trees to greet them. But as I try to get closer, they start to run away, further into the place woods. I trip but brush myself off and keep running. They stop running and I smile. One of them turns around, Hannah. She smiles at me, opening her arms for me, offering a hug. I am inches from her when she disappears into thin air, along with the others.
Startled, I fall to the ground. I look around me and gasp. I don't know where I am. I wipe tears from my eyes and look at the ground. My cries morph into a laugh. I push myself up. I look up to the sky and laugh.
