"There once was an old man who lived with his four sons and two daughters in a mansion somewhere in these woods." Olivia said, "The man left one day and never came back. The children decided to stay and live in the house. The man had gone insane because he became lost in the wood. He was angry that his children didn't care enough to look for him."
I looked back out into the woods. I remembered back to the mansion I thought I had seen in the forest. Could that have been it? I looked up to Dexter. He was enjoying the story. I sure wasn't.
"Eventually after 8 years he found the house again. He burst in and killed them all. All except for his one daughter, Claire Hart. She was able to stop him by plunging a knife from the kitchen into his head. The girl cried and cried for years. She cried until her unfortunate death. People say you can still hear her spirit crying from the mansion. Some say even think she's still alive and has gone mad. She cries to bring her victims to her mansion, thinking she is a lost child, then strikes before the victim realizes what's happened." She finished.
"Ow." I heard from beside me. I looked to Dexter and realized I was digging my nails into his arm. I quickly let go.
"Oh, sorry." I said. He looked down at me, a worried look written across his face.
"Well," Peter said, "it's not real so we don't have to worry." I looked down. Oh but I am. I thought.
"Time for bed guys. It's late." Caleb said. Everyone crawled into their tents and got ready to sleep.
As soon as Dexter and I got into our tent he laid down and grabbed my waist. He pulled me into him and nuzzled his face into my shoulder.
"What's up, Hannah?" He said.
"What do you mean?" I said, "nothings up." I lied. He pulled me closer.
"Hannah May Reece, we have been dating for a year and a half now," he said, "I know when something's bothering you." I sighed.
"Fine," I said, "something is bothering me." I turned around to face him. "Dex, I'm terrified. You know Olivia's mansion in this forest ghost story?" He nodded. "Well, I was in the forest getting logs for us to sit on, when I heard crying. I walked towards it a bit and it got louder and fog rolled in. In the distance I thought I saw a mansion." I shivered slightly. He kissed my forehead and pulled me to his chest.
"Don't worry one bit. I'm sure it was your mind playing tricks on you." He said. "Everything is ok. I'm here." He played with a lock of my hair and before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
