Warnings: Nightmare, Crying, Soft Smut, Cursing
*******
"Leave me alone, Roman," Logan pushed Roman not so gently away from him. "I just want to be alone," he said, sliding out of Roman's bed.But Roman, as expected, did just the opposite, getting out of bed himself and following his distressed boyfriend towards the chair where he had set his jacket earlier. He didn't say anything just yet, watching as Logan pulled on his dark jacket and searched for his shoes.
"I just need to clear my head," Logan said finally, but that was by no means an acceptable response as far as Roman was concerned. "I'll talk to you tommorow."
"Logan," Roman said finally, resting a hand on Logan's shoulder. "Please, just wait one second."
"I'm fine," Logan denied, even though Roman hadn't asked him if he was. "I'll text you when I get home."
"Logan, it's three in the morning. You're too tired to drive safely or walk alone. Please," Roman reached forward and tangled their fingers. "I know it isn't your strong suit, but talk to me. I'm listening," Roman offered, guiding Logan back to his bed.
And Logan couldn't find it in himself to protest, letting Roman guide him and sitting down at the edge of the bed.
"Logan?" Roman asked tentatively, untangling their fingers to softly kiss the back of Logan's hand. "Talk to me, baby. What happened?"
"I - I..." Logan stuttered as his eyes watered at Roman's gentleness. He tore his eyes away after a moment. Logan didn't want Roman to see him cry.
"Logan, please," Roman moved in front of Logan, using his right hand to hold Logan's and the other to caress Logan's cheek - encouraging him to look at Roman. "What was the nightmare about?" he asked, patiently.
Logan took a shuddering breath, closing his eyes. "You said - you said that you - you never loved me. And you said that no one ever could love me because 'who would ever love someone who loved their job more than their partner?'" Logan was shaking at this point. "And I know it was just a dream but... I can't help - "
"Woah," Roman cut him off, running a comforting hand through Logan's hair. "First of all, I'm glad you love your job, as I love mine. You don't have to chose between your job and me - there is more than enough room in your heart for both," Roman encouraged, moving Logan's glasses a little to brush away his tears. "And second, how could you think - even for a moment - that I'm not completely head of heels in love with you? I love you so, so much, Logan."
At that Logan burst into sobs and Roman pulled his boyfriend into his chest, murmuring words of comfort.
"I - I'm sorry, Roman," Logan was still shaking in Roman's arms. "I'm sorry."
"Oh, my darling," Roman kissed the top of Logan's head. "You have nothing to apologize for," Roman pulled back so he could look in Logan's beautiful dark eyes. "If anything, I apologize for making you think, even subconsciously, that my love for you was ever in question."
Logan sniffled, brushing his tears away. "Ugh, I hate crying," he confessed sheepishly, trying to both change the subject and pull himself together. "Stupid feelings."
"There are no stupid feelings," Roman said sweetly, grabbing Logan's hands and holding them away from his face. Logan's face was red and splotchy and Logan immediately looked away in embarressment. Roman momentarily ignored Logan's discomfort and leaned forward, kissing his boyfriend's lips as softly as he could.
Logan gasped - as if he was surprised that Roman was kissing him. Roman felt his heart break a little at that and pulled back. He let go of Logan's hands and cupped Logan's cheeks.
