Maclin is standing before the door. There are two things he is thinking about. Telling everything that has happened to John Simoff, and let him know about his daughter or being silent and let the World do what it will about it.
Maclin is the third son of Robert Ludrick and Lucy Ludrick, having an elder sister, Sarah Ludrick and an elder brother, William Ludrick. Sarah was married to Nicolas Carlson four years back and moved to the town along with him. Robert and Lucy are living along with William and, Maclin is living alone in his small house which is near to their family's cornfield.
William visits Maclin twice every month. Maclin is the one who works on the field along with his neighbors who are quite far from each other by homes but come close in the field every morning. His house is at the border of the village. He uses to spend his day by waking up in the morning, going to the field and work there till evening and come back home and rest. On weekends, he uses to go out with his friends.
Natasha, she met him for the first time in their childhood when their fathers used to work in the fields. That day, he teased Natasha so much that she cried so badly. And that's the moment he decided to not make her cry again. Not because his father scolded him but because he felt so guilty about seeing her crying because of him. He even promised it the next day that he never will make her cry and that promise is the beginning of their friendship.
They went to the same school for a while and at an early age, Maclin stopped school as it is not working for him and started working in the field along with his father. Natasha didn't like him leaving school so she started visiting their home every evening after school and explain all the things she learned in the school to him.
Natasha was admired in her school for her best grades and that brought her so many scholarships. But it's Maclin's thoughts which inspired her much. He uses to show her everything about the cornfields, trees, rivers, rain, soil and everything in nature whenever they got time. And she started painting those moments, the trees, the leaves and everything in the nature she has known by and along with him. And that made her interested in Arts in college time.
She got a full scholarship in an Art College which is from a very far town. That's when Natasha has known that, in life, sometimes, we have to make choices. Choosing between the left eye or right eye, even though who knows what choice is correct. Maclin thought, after four years, she will be back, and they be same as they are always and so he suggested her not to miss that opportunity.
It is then when Natasha left and Maclin confronted Solitude. Even though he is living along with his family, he couldn't stop feeling lonely and never expressed it to anyone. It disturbed him so much without him knowing that he choose to live alone in the home near to the field. At first, no one agreed to him as he is the youngest but then, everyone got used to it because of his disagreeableness and little stubbornness.
Natasha wrote letters for him for the first two years but later she wrote them hardly. By her sister, he has known that Natasha was in love with someone. From then, he stopped writing letters to Natasha. At first, he forced himself but then he got to use to not writing. He started working more in the field to not feel alone. It helped, but that solitude still is something that always lived along with him in his house.
When he opened the door, that solitude is what welcomed him into the house. Even though it is too dark to see anything in the House, he searched his way to his Couch. He fell on it, with legs stretched straight and front, head leaning back on the couch, eyes closed, and the thunderflashes are brightening up the room and his posture for every few minutes. He is listening to the sound of the raindrops and the sound faded into nowhere.

The knocking on the Door woke up Maclin from his unintended sleep. He looked around, noticing the darkness and silence from every corner. The silence is broken again by the knocking on the door. He turned to it, standing up, he watched the sky from his window Glass. The rain stopped and the sky is still dark. He made his way to the Door and Opened.
