I was awoken that night by shaking. I opened my eyes and saw Espio asleep, but more upset than I'd ever seen him.
He was shaking and tightening his grip on my body. He was also whispering things. "Don't leave me. Please. Don't go now."
I whispered back, "It's okay I'm here, I'll never leave you."
He started crying and said, "I don't want to see you go. Stay here... We'll be happy..."
I stroke his head and whispered back "We are happy. What makes you think I'll go?"
Then he said a bit louder "Don't leave. I can't let this happen again."
"Everything is going to be okay."
*Louder* "Come back..."
"It's okay..."
"I love you!" At this point he was shouting in his sleep.
"I'm here, just can down! Please, baby..."
"Don't go!" he said, snapping awake, sitting up.
"Everything's good. It was a dream." I said, hugging him.
He seemed embarrassed.
I patted his back to reassure him there was nothing to be embarrassed about.
He started crying and hugged me back.
"I want to see the kids. I need to know if they're okay." Espio said through tears.
"I can go get them."
A few minutes later, I came back with the kids following behind me.
We all ran up to Espio and hugged him.
"I love you all. Please don't leave." He said, choked up.
"We're not going to go Daddy. What happened?"
"I just... had a bad dream. Thank you."
"We love you." I said
"And I love all of you." He said back.
