Author's note: From the Beginning to the picture will be an introduction from the new character That is being introduced. From under the picture and to the ending of this chapter is from Toxic's point of view.
The day was unknown, and I was a new face. My name is Edward Gotts. Who I am and what I do is classified information. The only information I am able to give you is my name. I am what you would consider one of the higher ups. That's exactly what I was compared to the scientist and other staff members that work in New Haven.
As far as how much authority I had, let's just say that when I told people where to go and when to get there. They were there before the time I said to be there. We go by a military saying 'If you're early your on time if you're on time your late and if your late don't bother showing up'. This was well known to all staff members.
As far as personal information goes. My age is twenty. I am originally from Russia. This makes me perfect for the job they assigned me that day. With all my training and diligent work I climbed the ranks exceedingly fast. With my background, I am often asked why I have such an English name. This is to make it easier on my fellow English comrades.
You'll definitely be seeing my hard side but you'll also be seeing a much softer side. My soft side is rare. It will only come out around the people I care about. I want to protect them and keep them safe. That is exactly what I will do as well. Till the day I die.
-Edward Gotts aka Eddy
That particular Tuesday started off with an early morning breakfast. They now fed me before every injection because they had tried once with my stomach empty. I puked all over the front of the scientist and the guards in the room. While the others were pissed off I had done so, that one scientist that has been with me from the beginning took care of me. I am extremely thankful for him. He was almost like my father.
I remember every single piece of food they had given me that morning. They really had made sure that I would not have an empty stomach that day. That would be because we would be getting a special 'guest' that day and they didn't want to make a fool of themselves. They gave me: two eggs, two sausage links, some hashbrowns and a piece of toast. It was all topped off with a glass of milk. I had to keep my bones as healthy as possible.
There wasn't a single piece of food left on my plate. I was so full, I couldn't eat anymore no matter how much they pushed me to do so. A sigh escaped my lips as I laid my head back eyes closed just to take a moment to myself before the torture began. The scientist that I considered to be like a father stood in the doorway. His hand rose and he lightly knocked on the frame to alert me of his presence. I opened my eyes and sat up on my elbows to look at him. "Are you ready Tox?" He asked leaning against the frame now crossing his arms.
A slight smile spread across my face at the nickname. Tox was the nickname he gave me after the incident with Maria. I really wasn't ready but I wasn't allowed to say that. They would do this to me whether or not I was. "As ready as I can be." I let out an exasperated sigh as I rose to my feet. I walked through the doorway past him then waited. We walked side by side down the hall. As we had reached the doors he stopped me. I looked at him curiously.
