Drowning

The next day I woke up to was the warm sunlight on my cheeks through the tarp. When my eyes finally adjusted I looked around. No one else was in the tent. I sat up and stretched my arms above my head. i was about to get up when the door flaps got pulled back. Eddy's smiling face peeked in at me. "Good Morning sleeping beauty." A slight chuckle escaped him. Before I could respond he spoke again. "Hurry up and get ready we need to move."  The flaps closed and I heard his steps drift away from the tent. I got up as a groan escaped my lips. I changed then slid my boots onto my feet which were still sore from climbing up the tower. I quickly ran my fingers through my hair giving it a quick comb through then walked out with my backpack slung over my shoulder.

Upon exiting the tent Kes and Eddy began tearing it down and packing it up. I walked over to the edge pulling a water bottle out and taking a drink. "You were kind of late getting into the tent last night," Kaz spoke to me as I was putting the bottle down. "Yeah, so what's your point?" I spoke calmly and frankly as I began to throw my hair into a pony tail. "Nothing just wondering if anything had happened or maybe a certain someone kept you?" his head nodded in Eddy's direction and my eyes followed. It was none of his business but I decided to play with him a bit. With a slight smirk I replied. "Wouldn't you like to know" with that I walked away.

Kaz opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by Eddy. "Ready?" I nodded and walked towards the door we all took to get onto the roof.  My hand gripped the handle about to pull it open when I heard something and paused. "What is that?" Kes spoke hearing the noise as well. "Their here" My eyes landed on Eddy who had his Pistol at the ready. Me and Kes locked eyes. We knew exactly who he meant. I walked up to Eddy and began to shove him and Kaz. "What are you doing?" Kaz asked. I looked at Kes and he nodded knowing exactly my plans. He grabbed Kaz covered his mouth and took him to an old broken down part of the tower and hid. Eddy stopped me grabbing onto my elbows. "No Tox. Im not letting them take you back." He protested. I shook my head. Then pushed him to the point where Kes grabbed him as well. "Dont move and dont speak!" I demanded then ran to the center of the roof to await the soldiers. If they were here to take me and Kes back then I will give them  a fighting chance to survive longer then a day especially Kes. My mind went to when ai had first seen him. I couldnt let him continue to live that way.

Eddy, of course, was being stubborn and trying to get away from Kes. When they reached the roof they began to bark out orders. "Hands above your head!" One demanded. I complied but before I knew it I was at the edge of the building. "See you in Hell!" I yelled back as I ran towards the edge. With my back foot, I launched off the lip of the building no hesitation no time to double guess my decision. With that I launched myself towards the building next to me. As I hit the roof I dropped and rolled. I heard boots running to the edge. I quickly yanked on the door of the building but didnt go in. I just ducked out of view. After seeing the door close they all assumed I ran down. "After her!" One barked. "But what of the others?" Another soldier questioned. "You idiot do you see them here? No! Because you know as soon as she had the chance she killed them!" The main soldier replied.

My heart broke. All they seen me as was a monster. Another soldier brought up the point that while they stood there arguing I was getting away. Then slowly I heard the thump of their boots vanish. I sat there, the words that I had murdered people as soon as I got the chance rang through my ears on repeat.

"Right" Kes nodded finally releasing Eddy and Kaz. He was the next to leap over, then Kaz, and finally Eddy. Eddy snatched me up and we all ran to the door and rushed down the stairs. Once we could we snuck out into ally way. Kaz had been leading us the entire time, seeing as he downloaded every buildings blueprint in the matter of a single night. While he was asleep none the less.  When we were in safe distance away from the building we slowed our run into a speed walk. I caught myself still peeking over my shoulder expecting them to be right behind us. Eddy's hand still firmly holding onto mine. He must have noticed my uneasiness because he stopped and turned to me to speak. "Hey. Calm down! They have no idea where we are" Eddy released my hand and now had them firmly on my shoulders. "How the hell did they know we were in that exact building? There must have been at least a hundred buildings between the wall and the exact one we were at." There was no use arguing with my logic so instead Eddy remained quite, grabbed my hand and we began walking again.
