Sophie

"Well this is nice." Aro spoke in a cheery tone.

I don't know what his definition of 'nice' was but this definitely wasn't it.

We all sat around a large table. By 'we', I mean Aro, my mother, the dark haired guy and the blonde guy I had met on my first day here and the other blonde lady.

I could feel all their eyes on me, studying me intently as if I was some weird species. To them I probably was.

I also felt uncomfortable because I just realised that I was in a room of people that fed on my blood to survive.

"Aren't you going to eat, dear?" The blonde lady asked in a sweet voice.

I looked down at the plate of delicious looking gourmet food.

I picked up my fork moved the food around on my plate, I still felt their eyes on me, even more so as I lifted the fork to put it in my mouth.
Aro didn't hide his fascination as he watched me chew.

I couldn't help but wish Jane, Felix, Demetri or even Alec were here. I had no way of knowing how old they were but at least they looked closer to my age in appearance.

Around these much older looking people, I felt extremely uncomfortable.

"The resemblance simply is uncanny, Jessica." The dark haired man whose name I had learnt was Marcus spoke up.

My mother simply let out a grunt in response.

Okay, that was hurtful.

A lifetime ago she would give whoever told her that we looked alike, a great big smile and say 'I know right? Aren't I just lucky to have a 'mini me'?'

I would always smile at these words because they made me happy to think that I was my mother's and no one else's.

Now I just felt rejected...

"Are you going to enlighten us on the girl's talents already, Aro?" The blonde man who was named Caius spoke in a less than friendly tone.
He almost seemed as irritated as my mother by my presence.

The blonde woman who had been nothing but friendly to me gave him a stern look.

Judging by their body language, I could only assume that they were mates.

Aro had a huge smile on his face seeming completely oblivious, which contrasted extremely with my mother's annoyed looking one.

"It would be my pleasure my friend but it just so happens that I do not know. Dear Sophie, here did not permit me to see that deep into her mind."

The whole table expressed their shock.

I looked around wondering what I was missing.
I tried to remember all I could from that day when Aro had taken my hand and attempted to invade the privacy of my mind.

"How is that possible?" My mother spoke her first words since this lunch had started.

Aro gave me a friendly smile but it was hard to see any gesture as friendly with those eyes.

"I was hopping that she could tell us herself."

All the red eyes at the table were on me and suddenly my plate was the most interesting thing in the world.

"Well, Sophie." He spoke. "Care to explain how you were able to... 'push me out'?"

His tone was friendly but I could sense a hint of anger in it.

"I don't know." I muttered.

"Look up when you address your elders, girl." The Caius guy spoke in a stern voice.
