(Tina P.O.V)
Tina stood in her and Queenie's bedroom door- no her bedroom door- staring at the now emptier room. They had been spending all of yesterday and this morning packing up all of Queenie's belongings, getting her and Jacob ready to move to England. Thankfully with magic, it wasn't all that hard to get everything packed. They had ended up shoving everything into one box, Queenie's and Jacob's things, and honestly, Tina was surprised that it worked so well.
Tina knew everything was packed, and that meant it was nearly time to leave. She suddenly felt a knot in her stomach, the sudden fear of being lonely overwhelming her. She never thought about Queenie moving into her own place, she guessed they would always live together in their little apartment in the big city of New York. Now she was moving to England.
Tina felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see Queenie, a sad expression on her face as she told her sister,
"We're ready to go now." She sighed. "I'll miss this place. A lot." Tina nodded, understanding Queenie's pain. They had shared so many memories here, like the dinner they had with Jacob and Newt for the first time. Tina could forever remember how awkward it had been. But now with Queenie leaving, it was going to feel empty.
"But don't worry, we'll try to visit you often," Queenie told her. As Queenie turned away, a sudden thought occurred to Tina and she asked,
"Wait, what about Jacob's bakery?" Queenie turned back around and explained what they arranged.
"Jacob's put one of his most trusted employees as the manager here. We were hoping to open another shop in London!"
"That's great! So we're completely ready to go then?" Queenie looked thoughtful for a moment before saying,
"Yep. I think so." She went to the front door, picking up her luggage as she waited patiently for Tina with Jacob. Tina looked at her apartment one last time before grabbing her own luggage and bringing the single box to Jacob.
"Could you carry this?" She asked, and he nodded as he took the box with his free hand. They exited from the apartment, locking the door before quietly heading down the stairs. They had already spoken to Mrs. Esposito about Queenie moving, and thankfully allowed an exception of Jacob being on the premises to help pack and to visit Tina. He had been very relieved, he no longer had to sneak up the stairs to visit and didn't have to be apparated in and out of the apartment whenever they wanted to go somewhere quickly. Apparently, he really didn't like the gut-wrenching feeling.
As the three walked to the docks, they chatted about how excited they were to see Newt again, and how Queenie and Jacob were going to miss New York but all the while enjoy the new sites of London.
"But first, you're going to have to find something to live in." Tina told them, and they both nodded in agreement as they fell into a comfortable silence as they walked. Thankfully in Newt's last letter, he had said they all could stay at his parent's place while Queenie and Jacob looked for a place to stay.
As they arrived at their boat, they pulled their tickets out as they began to board it, soon being stopped by the guard who asked for their tickets. One by one they handed their tickets to the guard and entered the ship. Tina had discovered a secret traveling company that was run by a magical family, who had passenger ships specifically for magical people with the exception of muggles who knew of magic. Other than that, absolutely no muggles were allowed. The tickets were pretty difficult to get anyway, so there was no way a muggle could get one on accident.
"Alright, shall we check-in?" Queenie asked, her blonde curls bouncing around her head. They walked over to the check-in desk, and a cheerful lady with jet black hair smiled as she greeted,
"Welcome to the Montgomery Mermaid! How can I help you today?" Tina almost laughed out loud at the name, and she had to force herself to keep her smile back as she cleared her throat and told the woman,
"Uh, we're checking in?"
"Of course. Name?"
"Goldstein." The woman looked in her book before looking back up at Tina and telling her,
"Sorry, but there is no Goldstein here. Perhaps it's under another name?" Tina began to sweat, panic overwhelming her, hoping she didn't say Sca- er, his name on accident. Tina glanced back at Queenie quickly and saw her holding a smirk. Great, she thought.
"Um okay, try Kowalski?" The woman went back to her book and flipped a few pages, then asked,
"Two rooms reserved?" Tina nearly sighed in relief and replied,
"Yes, that's us. Thank you." The woman nodded and grabbed two keys, before handing them to Tina and telling her the room numbers. Tina thanked the woman again, and the three shuffled away to go find the assigned rooms.
They quietly walked down the corridor, until Queenie whispered in Tina's ear,
"I heard you panic when that woman said there was no name of Goldstein recorded." Queenie giggled. "You obviously were hoping you didn't say Newt's name. Oh Teenie, what are we gonna do with you? Although think about it, Tina Scamander, has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" Queenie teased. Tina was trying to hide a blush she could feel creeping up her neck, all the while holding herself back from yelling at her sister too.
"Shut up, Queenie." Tina loudly whispered, getting more annoyed by the second. But Queenie continued.
"Hey Jacob honey, how does Tina Scamander sound to you?" Queenie smiled as she waited for his reply, and Jacob too smiled as he said,
"Well, I think it just sounds lovely! I'll have to tell Newt when we see him." Tina glared at him, and Jacob caught on not to say anymore.
"Oh don't be so harsh on him Teenie. We're only joking." That's when Tina snapped. She couldn't take it anymore.
"Only joking? Maybe if you were 'only joking' you would have learned to stop it by now!" They had stopped right outside of room 218, one of the room numbers the woman had told them. Tina handed the other room key to Queenie.
"Here's your key." Tina snapped. Then without another word, she entered the room and slammed the door shut.
Tina really didn't understand why she was so angry, she had put up with her sisters teasing for her entire life. It might have been because she missed Newt so much, that she was set off by Queenie talking about him like that. It had been over six months since she had last seen him, and of course, they had kept in touch through letters but it really wasn't the same as talking in person.
Tina sighed. She only had to wait one week. One week until she would arrive in London, until she could see Newt again...
She had waited this long, she really didn't want to wait even longer.
