Marshall:

I flew Marceline to the ball. She looked so beautiful. She had a purple dress and stockings with stripes. And her pretty pink heels. She looked great. I was just in my usual flannel shirt with jeans and sneakers.

We arrived at the party. Bubblegum was finishing last minute touches. People were scattered everywhere. It was not my kind of party. It was formal. Something Marcy and I weren't dressed for.

"Welcome!" Bubblegum scurried over to us. I smiled and wrapped my arm around Marceline. She squirmed out and swiftly floated to the snack table.

"Omg, who are you?" A princess approached me. She was purple with lumps.

"I'm Marshall," I said, watching Marceline the whole time. She pulled out her base and strummed a few meaningful notes.

"You're so cute," the princess said, "I'm Lumpy Space Princess," she introduced herself, but I floated away from her.

I snuck up behind Marceline. I put my hands on her hips, making her jump. "Oh, I didn't see you there," she murmured, grabbing a cream puff and sucking out the red.

"No, stay here," I whispered in her ear. She shivered and drank some punch.

"Omg Marceline is here! Play something!" LSP chanted along with the crowd. I let go of Marceline's hips and she flew to the stage.

"I'm just your problem. I'm just your problem. It's like I'm not even a person, am I? I'm just your problem," Marceline sang. Her voice was beautiful. I craved more of it. But, I smoothly acted cool and pushed stray hair behind my ear.

"Woo!" We all cheered at the end of her song. She quickly flew away. Being the vampire I was, I caught the tear that fled her cheek as she flew away.

"Marceline?" I followed her. She leaned against a tree, quietly sobbing. I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Stop following me!" She snapped, trying to hide her quiet sobs. I sat beside her.

"Tell me what's wrong," I looked into her deep brown eyes and places my hands on her shoulders. She threw her arms around me and drenched my shirt in tears.

"I just feel so alone!" Was all I could get out of her tears. She curled against me and gripped my shirt.

"You aren't alone," I whispered, lifting her chin and kissing her forehead. She frowned but when I smiled, she reflected that smile back, except even more beautiful. I thought of the only thing I could do. I kisses her softly and slowly pulled away.

"We should get back to the party..." she rubbed her neck and stood up. I smiled and escorted her back to her party like nothing happened. Well, I thought something happened.
