Woah I haven't updated here with an actual oneshot for a whilE
This was an idea given to me by a friend :D
I hope you guys enjoy! (Also the characters are aged up; they're adults, and and Mike and El are living together)
Mike and El weren't like regular, day to day couples.
They never, ever stopped loving each other, never criticized each other, never cheated on each other, but most importantly, never fought for the stupidest things.
In reality, they never really fought at all.
They had no reason to; their love would always ensure that they understood the other and didn't disrespect them in any way possible.
But then, something happened.
It started on a game night the party chose to do as a get together, since they hadn't seen each other in a while. They decided on getting together in Mike and El's medium sized apartment and playing Monopoly. They would've played D&D, but Mike had been too caught up in his job as an author recently and didn't have enough time to come up with a campaign.
This was their first game of the night. (I don't really know how monopoly works, so please bare with m e) They were about halfway through, and it was pretty intense. Mike was winning, with a monopoly and even bankrupting Dustin, who was certainly not pleased and calling bullshit on the boy. But then, suddenly, Mike started going down from winning to almost being bankrupt. And, suspiciously, El had started winning.
Eventually, around thirty minutes later, El ended up winning the game. She happily cheered herself on as the rest of the party playfully glared at her. Well, all except Mike. He was staring at her with his signature 'heart eyes' and a lopsided smile. He even pecked El and whispered, "Good job, love" as they separated. El grinned at the boy while the rest of the party made gagging noises at the couple. Some things never really change, don't they?
The rest of the night went along in a similar fashion. They played many different games, and usually, Mike would start winning, then suddenly go down as El would win again. The cycle repeated (and was even broken sometimes by another party member winning, causing them to earn a glare from Mike) until to the point where El started to get a tad bit suspicious. She started noticing how Mike would start getting a bit... reckless, once El got into first place. He would also start concentrating on taking the others down, and left El alone (who was the person he should really be going for since, you know, she's winning). And every time she would win, he wouldn't even get the littlest bit mad. He would just peck her lips and smile lovingly at her.
Once El noticed this, she came up with the conclusion that her freckled faced nerd was letting her win. It was even proven to her when Mike accidentally won a round. He had a forlorn look adorning his face, and once El congratulated him, giving him a small peck like he had done to her, he whispered, "It would've been better if it was you, though."
At first, the girl found this cute. He would do anything in his power to let her win, and she adored his grouchy, little face the rare times that he couldn't and another party member won.
After a bit, though, El started to not like this as much. It made her feel like she was being treated like a baby; as if she wasn't capable of completing the simple task of winning a game. She knew what she was feeling was stupid, though. She even felt guilty, since she should be grateful for what the boy was doing for her. El knew that if she kept her emotions hidden, though, it could cause a turmoil between them and lead to a fight.
Wanting the most peaceful approach to this, El waited until all their friends had finally left and her and Mike were cuddled under their bed sheets, her back against his chest as his arms wrapped comfortingly around her, to bring up the subject.
