AVA LIKED ENJOYING SIMPLE THINGS.

Like Ice Cream from a small parlor in the middle of Hawkins.

It was small but additional to the perfect ice cream they had, they also sold fudge. It was Ava's weakness. She would go in for a waffle cone, and leave with enough fudge to last her into next week.

The movie theater paid decently and she took extra shifts when she could, so it wasn't a big deal when she spent a little too much of her money on her sweet tooth.

Ava was working on a Wednesday evening at the concessions counter and it was slow.

Like ridiculously slow.

No one seemed to be coming in so she decided to grab the book she had in her bag, she had liked to read on her breaks.

Her dad had bought her Carrie when she was fifteen and she hadn't even started it till two weeks ago when she started her job.

Truth is, she wasn't very good at reading books.

She started them, then she got distracted and forgot all about them till she started the whole process over again.

Not this time fortunately.

Ava grabbed the book out of her bag, pulling the sticky note from the page she had left off on and began reading.

Although she only read the book on her work breaks (and if it was a slow day at the theater) she was about halfway through it.

Ava got about five pages in when she heard two voices that she immediately recognized.

Steve and Robin laughed as they approached the concession stand as Ava just sighed.

She really wasn't ever going to finish this book. I mean could she read it at home? Yes. Was she going to do it? Probably not. Iris hated reading.
So whenever she saw someone else doing it she would make an offhand comment about it.

Home was for sleep and food anyway.

As Steve and Robin approaches the counter, Ava slid her book into her bag and hopped off the counter.

"Welcome to Hawkins Theater, what can I get for you?" She recited as usual.

"Well look at this, how the tables have turned."

Ava rolled her eyes.

"Shut up Harrington."

In the weeks she had been living in Hawkins, Ava had rented a movie at least three times a week.

Sometimes she was greeted by Keith but most of the time it was Steve and Robin working a shift together.

Ava enjoyed teasing Steve.

"This is my revenge for all the times you made me go get your movie, then changed your mind!"

"I'm an indecisive person, be nice."

Steve just rolled his eyes as Ava laughed.

"Hi Robin."
