A S H T O N

friday the thirteenth had always been scary to some people, but for me, I'm not so scared. rumour has it that it was the anniversary of something evil. some say that there were also others that is scary or just bad luck. black cats for example, they were always proven to give you bad luck when you cross paths with one.

snapping back to reality, I pull my back pack over my shoulder as I walked down the dark stone path that leads directly to school. the wind was awfully cold today, the temperature would have to be about negative two, it was freezing. I held my black coat against my chest, trying to create warmth beneath my coat but it obviously failed as I was still cold. a huge gush of wind blew directly at me causing my beanie to fall off my head and in with the breeze of the wind. why does this have to happen to me? why now?

I picked up my pace as the wind carried by beanie behind someone's house. two problems. one, I don't know who lives there and two, the only way I could get my beanie is if I sneak behind their house without them noticing. well, I should better get it.

I didn't bother to knock on the door, before I thought twice, I just went towards the backyard. it was a simple looking house, red with white windows and a blue roof, their garden was pretty good for a garden, it had simple red and pink roses and some bushes in between each set of roses. I jumped over the brown wooden gate that opens to the backyard --cause my beanie slipped under the gap, under the gate-- and picked up my pace, yet again. the wind gushed and the trees branches started moving, letting more leaves fall off the branches, the wind was pretty strong for an autumn day. in australia, most days are quite quiet and peaceful, well beverley hills isn't as it was made out to be.

I spotted my beanie in front of a fence and walked towards it. I hope nothing else can bother me today. this is already enough, I also can't risk being late to school again. I'm already in detention for 20 minutes. what am I supposed to do in 20 minutes?

I unexpectedly heard a meow in front of me and looked up. I would've thought it was just a young boy making weird sounds but I thought wrong.

it was a black cat.

it was black all over with menacing orange eyes, piercing into my hazel eyes. it moved along the top of the fence and jumped off landing on all four of its feet, it gave me one last glare and walked off leaving me bewildered. why would there be a cat out in this type of weather?

bad luck starts from now, troublemaker.
