Hi,

Thank you for clicking on this story, and I hope you decide to read on after this little introduction. I promise it's going to be worth your while.

This is a riveting, and an inspiring read, one of the aims I wish to achieve with the bearing and nurturing of this story from my heart. It is my desire that this book will ultimately fan the fire in you, whether blazing or smouldering, to go after your heart's wishes. But that is only a secondary purpose. It is mainly for your enjoyment, experience and enrapturing in the world I have created within the preceding pages. It is a bitter-sweet world, one of deep emotions and highs, lows, complexities and varieties.

It entail and spin around the life of a young Nigerian girl and her journey through the upper classes of the society — particularly in their high school, so yes, it's gonna be a pretty long ride. I mean a long one.

This is a multicultural book, a BWWM romance, and also has an ALS patient as a character. I have researched about it, still researching, and I portrayed them as realistically as possible. It's not something I've had a first-hand contact with, so don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any personal story or piece of information to share. I only want to shed more light on the disease.

There are mature themes (abuse, mental illness, drugs, sex, crime, etc) dealt with herein, occasional usage of foreign expressions (but don't worry, nothing too much that detracts from the storyline), and it is set in contemporary times; some things from the real world will make it here.

And also, since it's set in a world culturally, economically and socially different, some things will be very, very unique. Like currencies, the educational system, words meaning, localities and so on. I'll be expantiating on these later. But these are just the 'original' bits to the story, and it's still a conventional young adult book.

Here are some reviews:

"As cliché as high school stories are, I really enjoyed this one. The way you've described Ruthanne Georgeson High and the systems that work within its walls, the way you've portrayed life for Demi before and after Ruthanne - all of it is well-written, and it draws you in. I couldn't stop reading, and that's exactly what an author should want.... The plot was ... well-organized and nicely detailed. As far as clichés goes, I have yet to find a book on Wattpad that matches yours. There's a uniqueness to it that definitely separates it from other Teen Fiction books. ... It's a well-written story with great characters and storyline, and I'm a sucker for Teen Fiction stories with a little bit of drama..." —Ohana-Awards

"My favorite thing about this story are the details of the setting. It was easier to visualize everything, which made it much more realistic, especially since it's set in an impoverished community. The plot was nicely introduced in the beginning, presenting the more disadvantaged girl with a life-changing opportunity, but contrasting it with another girl who already lives that type of life. Your writing style was amazing as well! It made the story really enjoyable to read." — CreativeChaos

"This opening chapter is beautifully crafted throughout with layers of meaning presented in subtle and not-so-subtle subtext. You have seamlessly shown us the settings and the characters while building intrigue, enticing us to continue reading. Set against the backdrop of your blurb and reinforcing it, you invite perceptive readers to delve deeper into your story." — ZonderZorg

"The plot, the setting and the exposition touched my heart..." — TheBlueSmile_16

"You're a creative writer that can show many emotions in a single chapter and make you actually feel them as if you are the character. At first I thought this was just some lonely girl but ended up being a bit more twisted than that..." — mae89x

It is still a far-from-perfect story, and will use some major editing, finishing, draftings ... this is just a first draft. Your thoughts, suggestions, criticism, and questions are highly welcome. Votes, comments, and shares will be appreciated, too as they help with the story's ranking and visibility on the site - bringing it to the attention of more readers. Your support is paramount.

Now move along to the next chapter...

Enjoy!
