Blaring music, vibrating floor and a bunch of overly excited teenagers. The three main constituents of an American party. I think with the miserable way I was sat on the swing in the front porch, everyone knew how eager I was to leave. If it wasn't Scarlet's going away party, I wouldn't have even entered that damned house. So here I am, going back and forth, the swing creaking with the most irritating of sounds. It's only been half an hour and I wanted to kill myself exactly thirty times. Each. Single. Minute. It seemed like fun for most people, but that party scene wasn't really my thing with all the sweaty and drunk bodies. I think being here makes me feel more alone than when I'm the only person in my house.
'Grace?' A voice from behind calls. I turn around to see who I am talking to and I think I recognize his gray eyes, but I just can't seem to remember his name.
'Do I know you?' He seems amused and I'm even more confused. His face falls when he realizes I don't really know him, but he quickly covers it up with a smile.
He sits on the chair in front of me, oh great. We're hanging out now?
'It doesn't take Einstein's 160 IQ score to figure out that we obviously met before' His smirk is irritating as hell.
Why is that obvious? I mean he could've been a stalker...
Wait.
Einstein's 160 IQ score
My eyes widen in realization as I look into his face for confirmation, and by the smile that is going to split his face soon, I assume I'm correct.
Cole.
'Well I don't have any burgers on me that I can give you, so you can move on now. Find another miserable person' I think I could've done better with my comebacks.
'But I already found you.' Was I supposed to laugh now? I inwardly cringed because of how bad that was. At least his comebacks were worse than mine.
I mustered up my most serious face 'You know Cole' I looked straight into his eyes 'contrary to what you might think, you're not funny.' I thought that might irritate him as much as anything that comes out of his mouth does to me, but he only grinned more.
'So you do remember my name.' I have no idea what he's challenging me for.
I gave an exasperated sight 'What are you even doing here?' I might be annoyed, but I'm still curious.
'I'm Blake's friend, and he wanted to show me the girl he liked. Apparently she's the one this party is for.' He was itching to leave for some reason .
I couldn't help the look of shock on my face that quickly morphed into a smug one.
I knew it.
'Knew what?' I rolled my eyes at his question, I didn't even realize that I spoke that aloud.
'Nothing, now move on with your life. Just another bored person here, nothing to see' I mentally pushed him away, but I didn't want come out rude and literally do that. Oh who am I kidding, I couldn't care less.
'What are you doing here?' Guess I am not the only curious one, it only seemed fair that I answer his question.
'The girl Blake wanted to show you is my friend, and so is Blake.' Now his curiosity peaked.
'You know Blake?' I don't know why he was that surprised.
'Yeah we've been friends since we were kids, but the last time I saw him was at the fun-, uh, my birthday. My phone was broken' Lie 'so I haven't really heard of him lately.'
