The Present. Your Perspective.

In the twenty minutes I waited for His Lordship Loki, I debriefed the team over a call. Their reactions rnaged from pissed at the sudden appearance of an old foe to exited (shuri) at getting to test out an aesir-jotuns capabilities against her weaponry and armour.

Nobody expressed concern at the most junior member of team being given such an important mission though. Peter said congratulations and promised that in addition to my Christmas present (which I was almost 100% sure was the Alien movie DVD after i expressed to him a month ago I've never watched it), I would get a congratulations on your first solo assignment gift too.

I smiled as I hung up. Peter was almost the same age as me. Both of us blipped, and although he had a harder time coming back from it, we formed a sort of friendship.

After Tony laid down his life to use the infinity stones to destroy Thanos and all of his forces, there hadn't been a clear cut leader of the Avengers. Of course Fury told us what to do. But on the battlefield or in hostile situations we usually all volunteered to cover separate areas or who would storm a building first. I would have supposed Spiderman would take up the role. I mean, the kid inherited Stark Industries. He was the closest member left to Tony. But although he didn't outright deny any wish to lead, he hasn't stepped up either. At least in official terms.

Sighing i quickly leant off the wall, taking a bobble from around my wrist and fastening my soft golden bronze waves into a tight ponytail.

I could hear movement on the other side of the door, and I straightened, eyes wary. Loki had already jumped me once. If he did it again I might have to find a tazer in the armoury to help deal with him.

The door swung open. And the pale face I recognised was clean. Lokis hair was tied back like my own. At least we looked different in most other aspects. My hair was a burnished golden bronze, his black. My skin had a tanned glow whereas his was pale and light. My eyes were a hazel and his striking green. I hated the think the jokes Clint would have made if we looked similar.

He had put on the black shirt and green sweater vest i had laid out. They were from peters room but I since i'd never seen him wear them I assumed it was fine to take them, along with simple black jeans. He kept the boots he had worn with his aesir outfit, but that was it.

"I see you found the clothes I put out. Sorry if they don't fit. I'll see to getting Jarvis to get you some of your own."

Stoney silence greeted my words.

Tilting my head to the side I uncrossed my arms, "What I did in the elevator was unprofessional. I owe you an apology."

Even if you did try to stab me first.

"I'm sorry. I should have used restrictive not aggressive magic." Pausing I tried to read his face, which was sullen and watching me like a scared horse would to a person. Ready to bolt.

I stuck our my hand.

"If you wish we could start over."

His eyes lingered over my hand, then took it into his own. A strong grip. But it wasn't in a way that he wished to hurt me.

"Well hello dear. My name is Loki Laufeyson. Or Odinson depending on who you ask. What is your name" His eyes were guarded but a small smile played on his lips.

I shook once then let go. "My name is Y/N. Its nice too meet you." I tried to smile tentatively. In the time he had been showering I realised that maybe aggression wasn't the best way to deal with a stubborn thousand year old deity who was used to getting their own way.
