Chapter 1

I was at my house and I had nothing else to to do, so I was messing with my walkie talkie while looking out my window hoping to get the guys to answers. "Guys it Y/n, do you copy??" I say into the device. "Y/n?????" Mikes voice replied. "Mikeyyyy! Hiiiiiiii!" I exclaim. Mike laughs before Dustin and Lucas cut in, "Yooooo!" Said Dustin, "What's up guys?" Lucas asks to which I just giggle. I waited for Will to say something but he didn't due to the fact that he sadly went missing awhile ago. I dropped it and continued talking to the rest of the gang. After a little bit of talking I see something rustle in the woods outside of my window. Me being the curious idiot I am, I grab the walkie talkie and tell the boys to be quiet and headed outside. "Hello?" I call out, "Anyone there?" I hear another rustle, then another. "What's going on?" Mike whispers through the walkie talkie. "I'm not quite sure. I'm pretty sure it's an animal or something, but I definitely don't want to get closer to find out." I could hear Dustin start to mockingly laugh at me which caused me to get irritated rather quickly. "What's so funny?" I ask. "Oh nothin', you're just being a pussy!" Him, Lucas and Mike began having a laughing fit. I'm gonna show them! If they think I'm too scared I'll just go see what it is! "I'm going in, if I die know that Will's my favorite!" I sat the walkie talkie down hearing "HEY!" From all three of the boys in unison. I slowly walk closer, then closer. I finally reach where the shuffling was coming from but it quickly stopped. "Is anyone there?" I finally see something start to stand up and I jump back and scream causing the person to get startled as well. It looked like a girl, who'd been out on the streets for a long time. She didn't have any hair it was shaved and she wore a long white nightgown that almost looked too big. "Are you okay?" I ask to which she just nods. "Here, why don't you come inside with me okay? Follow me, I'll grab my walkie talkie and we'll go up to my room very quietly." She began walking towards me as I grab my walkie talkie and headed inside. The girl was looking at all my pictures hung on the wall so I decided to let the guys know what was going on. "It's y/n, do you copy?" I didn't hear anything for a few seconds until Dustin answered. "What happened? You went silent for a bit." He says. "It definitely wasn't an animal. As a matter of fact, it's a girl around our age I think. She doesn't know a lot of English, but I'll see you guys at school tomorrow." I set my walkie talkie down then headed towards the girl and sat down beside her.

"Hi. My name is y/n, what's yours?" I said slowly so she could understand.

"Y-y/n?" She said in a whisper tone.

"Yeah, there ya go. What's you're name?"

She didn't say anything she just pointed to a tattoo on her that read, '11'.

"Eleven, is it okay if I call you El for short?" I ask smiling brightly at her to which she just nods.

"You know, that's really cool," I say causing her to tilt her head in confusion. "The tattoo I mean. Most kids my age don't have tattoos so I think it's pretty cool."

El smiles at me and I just take a moment to study her features. She was beautiful despite looking really torn up. I taught her a lot of basic words and common things for most of the night and she was warming up to me rather quickly.

"Don't worry, you're safe here. I promise."

"Promise?" El asks.

"Uhh, promise. It's something that friends keep and they don't break."

"Promise..." she repeats before laying down in her little fort I made for her in the closet so my parents couldn't find her.

There was no way I could go to school tomorrow after all this and especially staying up so late I'd have to fake sick. The next morning I tell my Mom and Dad that I was too sick to go to school before they headed out for work. I watched out my window and waited for them to leave. As soon as they did I quickly jumped out of bed and opened the closet door to find El wide awake.
