hyunjin stared at him from across the table and jisung could only look at his half empty cup, wishing for this to end. the taller crossed his arms and sighed, shifting his gaze away and focusing on the window instead."can you say something?" hyunjin scoffed, and jisung slowly lifted his head up so they could meet eyes.
looking at him like this, while he was so close yet emotionally distant, made jisung slump in his seat and sigh.
"what is there to say? you said you wanted to talk, so i'm here to listen."
hyunjin busied himself with peeling off the sticker off an apple as he hummed in response, lost in his thoughts. jisung watched his fingers as they slipped and his nail digged into the apple, making its juice spill out.
"why don't you love me anymore?" he choked out, eyes glassy and tinted pink as he was about to break down. his head fell down to his chest as he tried to hide his tears. jisung opened his mouth to answer, but couldn't find the words to say.
"hyunnie, please don't cry..." he reached out and gently ruffled the other's hair. his hand trailed to his cheek and lifted his face up to look at his heartbroken boyfriend.
"all i did was love you- so, why don't you love me?" his lips were quivering as he spoke his shaky words. jisung wanted to say something, anything, but he had nothing to say.
"i'm sorry."
hyunjin sobbed, holding jisung's hand and pressing it against his face, "don't say it, please."
"you have to let go of me, jinnie. we can't do this anymore..."
a part of jisung died inside as he watched the person he used to cherish shatter right before him, and it was all his fault. he wished he was a better boyfriend. he wished he loved hyunjin. but he just didn't...he had to let him go.
