It's been a month since David and Erin moved in together. Maeve's parents are still staying with them, and it's driving Maeve insane. Mary slowly walked into the kitchen. Maeve was in there, making some coffee for the morning. Maeve's back was turned to her mom, so she didn't notice her. "Do you need any help?" Mary asked and Maeve sighed as she poured a cup of coffee. "No, I'm good." Maeve replied. "Do you want to go to a bar and just, hang out or something?" Mary asked. Maeve turned to face her as she held the cup of coffee. "I'm watching Bethany and Scott." Maeve replied. "Your father could watch them. Or you can get a sitter and all three of us can go." Mary suggested. "I don't think it's such a good idea." Maeve told her and she sighed. "Oh." Mary commented. "Maybe you and dad can go out. A date night." Maeve suggested and Mary nodded. "Maybe." Mary agreed. Maeve gave her a fake smile and walked back into the living room.
Maeve saw her dad looking at her kids in their play pen as they played. Joe looked up at her and smiled. "Hey." Joe greeted. "Hi." Maeve greeted. "Where's your mother?" Joe asked. "Kitchen." Maeve replied and Joe nodded. Joe stood up and walked over to her. "Could you stop it?" Joe asked. "Stop what?" Maeve asked. "Stop shutting us out, this is killing your mother." Joe replied. "I wasn't ready for you guys to jump back into my life." Marve told him and he sighed. "We just want to be in your life, that's all we've ever wanted. You've always shut out, since you were thirteen. Then you ran away at sixteen. We don't understand what is wrong with you." Joe explained and she shook her head. "It's not what's wrong with me, it's what's wrong with you two." Maeve told him. She sighed as she walked upstairs.
JJ drove home after a case and saw Will sitting on the porch as their sons played in the yard. She smiled as she walked up to him. "Having fun, are we?" JJ asked. "We are. "You should go inside and see who's visiting." Will replied and JJ nodded. She walked inside and gasped at who she saw making dinner. "Mom? What are you doing here?" JJ asked. Sandy turned around and smiled at her daughter. "I'm here to visit my daughter and grandson's, of course." Sandy replied. "This is a pleasant surprise." JJ commented. "That's what I was hoping for." Sandy told her as she hugged her daughter. They pulled apart and smiled. "You don't have to cook, mom. You're our guest." JJ told her. "Nonsense. I'm not a guest, I'm family." Sandy told her as she went back to cooking as JJ laughed. "I'm glad you're here, mom." JJ told her. "Me too." Sandy agreed.
Spencer walked inside his house and saw Mary and Joe on the couch as the twins played in the play pen. His in laws looked upset. "Is everything alright?" Spencer asked. "No, not really." Joe replied as he comforted his wife. "What's wrong?" Spencer asked and Joe sighed. "Maeve is still shutting us out." Joe replied and Mary stood up. "I think I'm going to take a walk." Mary told him as she grabbed her coat and walked out. "Mary's taking it really hard." Joe told him. Spencer walked upstairs and found Maeve in their bedroom. "Are you okay?" Spencer asked. "No." Maeve replied. "Your mom is really upset. She just left to get some fresh air." Spencer replied and she sighed. "Did they ask you to come talk to me?" Maeve asked as she laid in bed. "No, I just want to know what they did that was so bad." Spencer replied. Maeve stood up and faced him. "Do you really want to hear my screwed up childhood?" Maeve asked and he nodded. "Yes, I do." Spencer replied. "Okay.... They're both alcoholics." Maeve told him. "That's it? Did they abuse you or something?" Spencer asked. "No, they neglected me. Everything that was important to me, they brushed aside because nothing was more important then the next bottle. There were times I was at my grandmother's for weeks at a time when I was really young. My grandma wanted to take me in, but she was really sick and died shortly after. I finally gave up on them when I was thirteen. I wouldn't let them disappoint me anymore, I was tired of letting them hurt me when I knew how they were." Maeve replied and he sighed. "That's terrible." Spencer commented and Maeve nodded. "I know." Maeve agreed. "Are they clean now?" Spencer asked. "I don't know, I haven't asked." Maeve replied. "I understand now why you're so distant. But I think you should give them another chance, but if you don't want to I won't force you. If you want them gone, then I'll be okay with it." Spencer replied and Maeve smiled. "Thanks, Spence." Maeve commented. She leaned in and kissed him as he kissed back.
JJ walked outside after talking to her mom for an hour. "How's your mom?" Will asked as he watched his sons play. JJ smiled as she sat next to him. "She's doing great." JJ replied. "How was your case?" Will asked. "Harder then we expected, but everything worked out." JJ replied. "It always does, you guys always catch your guy." Will commented and she sighed. "Not really." JJ told him. "What do you mean?" Will asked. "Well, there is one Unsub that we never caught." JJ replied. "Who?" Will asked. "Mr. Scratch." JJ replied and Will nodded. "I forgot about him." Will told her. "So did I, until just now. He's been quiet for a while, and that kind of scares me. It can't end well." JJ told him. "You'll all just have to be prepared, especially Agent Hotchner." Will told her. "Yeah." JJ agreed. She smiled at him and kissed him passionately. They pulled away and he smiled at her. "What was that for?" Will asked. "I just really love you." JJ replied. "I love you too." Will agreed and they kissed again.
Maeve walked downstairs as Mary walked back in. She saw her mom wearing a necklace she hasn't seen in a really long time. It was her's when she was younger, her grandmother gave it to her, and it was her favorite, she absolutely loved. "Why are you wearing that?" Maeve asked. "You left it behind when you left, I've always kept it close. To remember you by." Mary replied and Maeve couldn't help but smiling as Joe walked up behind them. "Are you guys sober?" Maeve asked. "Twenty years." Joe replied. "We know we haven't been the best parents, but we love you and we're trying." Mary replied. Maeve took a deep breathe and nodded. "I can try too." Maeve told them and they smiled. "Really?" Mary and Joe asked in unison. "Really." Maeve replied. They went into a group hug as Spencer watched with a smile at the bottom of the stairs.
