Daisy

"MUM! DAISY GOT HIT BY LIGHTNING!"

"WHAT!?"

In two seconds flat my dad and brother are standing above me and pick me up. I just stare at the trees.

"Oh god no! No! Daisy!" Max cries.

They got here too fast. No. They have powers too!

I rip myself out of their grips. They look beyond shocked.

"WHAT?! YOU'RE ALIVE!?"

"Yeah, superheroes." I narrow my eyes at them and they look at me shocked as I storm to my room.

I plop down on my bed, filled with anger.

The door burst open "What was that?!"

I sit up and stare Max in the eyes "How do you have superpowers? How does mum? How does dad? How comes I don't?"

He bites his bottom lip "Mum, dad, and I was born with them. For some reason you was born without them. Now. How are you alive?!"

"Don't ask me!"

Mum and dad walk in and I cross my arms over my chest with a cold stare on my face "How could you keep this secret from me?!"

"We knew you would freak out."

"WHY WOULD YOU TWO HIDE THIS FROM ME?! I'M YOUR DAUGHTER!"

"WHO IS A DISGRACE TO THIS FAMILY! THAT'S WHY WE RAISED YOU THIS WAY AND NOT LIKE YOUR SISTER!"

Pressure builds in my palms and I ball my hands into fist. My eyes widen.

"I HAVE A SISTER?! YOU KEPT THAT HUGE SECRET FROM ME FOR 18 YEARS?! FUCK YOU TWO!"

I unball my fist and fire forms on the floor. All three look at me with wide eyes as I feel my feet leave the floor. I look down and see I'm flying.

I look at them and ball my hands. The fire gets larger and shoots at them. They all run out of my room.

My feet touch the floor and the fire goes away. I grab a duffle bag and start stuffing it with seven outfits, money that I've saved over the years, 2 pairs of boots, 3 pairs of shoes, a hairbrush, and my womanly things.

I look around my room that I haven't even slept in yet then spot the truck keys. I hold my palm out towards it and it melts. Then I leave out the window.

"Hey!" I look at Hershey and Tabby and give them a smile.

"What are you doing?"

"Going to try and find a place to live. Want to come with me?"

"Yes. We're friends. We're staying with you." I smile at them when it starts pouring down. "We know a good spot to take shelter. There is this abandoned warehouse in the woods. A five minute walk." I nod and we walk to it.

We go inside an Tabby shivers "I hate that it's always cold."

"Hold on. Let me try something."

I get some dry wood and put it in a pile. Then I hold my palms out toward it. Hershey cocks his head to the side "What are you doing?"

"Trying to create fire again."

"Again?"

"Yeah. Wait."

I think of my parents and them being superheroes and fire comes out of my palms. It lights the dry wood and I smile.

"Nice. You can create fire." Tabby says.
