Meanwhile, back in the hometown of the Powerful Kids, the Russian soldiers had done a pretty good job of f*cking the place up. Seriously, it was almost as if the apocalypse was happening. The soldiers had gone as far as building prison camps to keep the citizens (most of whom teenagers) hostage while US domination plans went underway.

Near one of the camps, a group of five of those teenagers (who had escaped) hid behind a bush, trying to avoid being sighted by the soldiers. They were Morgan, Avery, Trevor, Eghosa, and Brady.

"Okay guys. Just follow my lead and we'll be good," Brady instructed, darting his eyes around the area. No guards. The group sneaks over to a set of trees in a nearby neighborhood (or, what used to be a neighborhood), and takes cover.

"What are all these soldiers doing here?" Morgan asked, obviously not expecting a correct answer.

"Well, how are we supposed to know?" Trevor answered sarcastically.

"Don't answer my question with another question."

"Guys, don't argue, please," Eghosa begged. "We're in this together, whether we like it or not."

There was silence for a few seconds, as a van drove by with a bunch of drunk-ass soldiers in it. The last thing the group wanted to encounter.

As soon as they were sure the van was out of reach of their voices, Avery said, "I can't believe how much our lives have changed since these soldiers came here. What, with taking us captive and all."

The group nodded their agreement, and Eghosa commented, "You know who I miss? Heath."

"Hey, isn't he part of that group of powerful people? You know, with Sam and all those other people?" Trevor asked.

"I heard they were left for dead in a cave with a bunch of snakes," Morgan frowned.

"Well, I've been listening to the gossip around here, and from the bits and pieces I understand, they escaped and are now trying to stop the Russians," Brady said.

A look of relief crossed everyone's face then. "There might be some light in this situation after all," Eghosa said. "So long as they save us without harming themselves in the process."

The five of them then made a silent prayer, hoping the Powerful Kids would succeed in their mission.

I am legitimately unable to sleep.

Granted, I don't need to, but since that was everyone else's lovely idea after we got back to PAC (mind you, at 6 in the morning?), I decided to do so as well. But, my sleep schedule's so screwed up now, my body is unable to sleep. To make matters worse, I left my bottle of Melatonin at home.

After a good hour and a half or so of tossing and turning, I say, "Fuck it," to myself and crawl out of bed, being careful not to wake anybody else up.

I sneak out of my room, and make my way outside of the PAC headquarters, then outside of the shack. We were strictly forbidden to go outside until we were ready again... but what the others don't know won't hurt them.

Outside, it was... kinda chilly. But the sun was close to being out, and there were barely any clouds in the sky at the time. So I decided to stay outside. I sat down on a random patch of grass, so I can be alone with my thoughts. One of the best feelings I can think of, if you ask me.

A few minutes later, said thoughts are interrupted by an all-too familiar voice saying, "Well, you're up mighty early as always, are you?" jokingly. I turn around to see Elle.

"Couldn't sleep, so I figured why not?" I said, shrugging.

"You know you could get in serious trouble if PAC caught you out here right now," Elle warned me.

"Oh, you wouldn't be a tattletale," I laughed, hoping I was right. Sure enough, Elle giggled in reply and said, "Of course not. I'd be putting myself on the line too."

We both laughed and she sat down right next to me, grabbing my arm. It truly was a peaceful moment.

Sam and I were lying down, side-by-side, hand in hand, when a rumbling sound occurred.

"Sam, did you hear that?" I asked, beginning to tremble a little.

Sam didn't reply. Instead, he very quickly stood up and began scouting around. He was obviously on high alert now. Then we found out where the rumbling was coming from.

A tank with a whole bunch of Russian soldiers in it.

I let out a small scream, and then Sam hushed me. "Don't worry, Elle. I've got this," he told me reassuringly. Three soldiers hopped out, and one of them grabbed Sam's arms and pinned them behind his back. But he turned his hands into fireballs, which obviously didn't end well for the soldier who grabbed him.

Go get 'em, Sam, I said to myself. Unfortunately, one of the soldiers did something (I'm not entirely sure what) and Sam fell to the ground, unconscious.

"No!" I cried as they dragged him away. I tried to send a feelings-change signal into their minds, but nothing seemed to change. I guess it was the helmets they wore, which I believe can block my signals. So I resorted to basic self-defense. I was able to take out one of the soldiers, but another one took his place, and both grabbed me by the arms.

Then another voice shouted, "Let them go!"

The voice turned out to be that of Apaulla, who was now standing next to the front doors of the shack. I yelled to her, "Apaulla! Go back and get the others!"

"It's okay. I was trained for this moment," Apaulla growled, glaring at the soldiers. She then charged right at them, yelling what was probably a battle cry.

Another soldier came outside and had her down before she could even throw one punch. After the matter, Apaulla and I were also dragged into the tank, despite our constant struggling and pleading.

The last thing I saw before everything went black was Heath, standing right by the entrance.
