"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." - Proverbs 31:8-9

"The jury has decided to ask the public for their help. Those in favor say "I" and stand. Those against remain silent." As a unit, everyone in the jury, and in the courtroom, stood up and in unison said "I." The judge smiled. His gavel went down once again. "It is settled. The death penalty will be considered as a viable option during this case. Officer Smith, please escort the defendant into the courtroom as well as the family's chosen media reporters. Officer Jones, please escort Madison and whoever wishes to go with her into the private lounge. This case is about to begin."
"This way please ma'am." Officer Jones said to Natalie as she kept a firm hand on her children's shoulders. Noah was conflicted he wanted to be there to support Zach, but at the same time, he knew Madi needed him too. Zach patted his shoulder twice. "It's okay Noah. Go take care of our little sister. Besides, you know I'm not alone." Zach said, his gaze on Cammie and her parents.
"Yeah. I guess none of us are really alone anymore." Noah said softly. "I went from having no one to suddenly having a family willing to fight for me. So no, Noah. We're never going to be alone again. We'll always have each other." Zach said. "Go ahead and get Madi out of here. She shouldn't be here for this." "Right. Be careful Zach." Zach nodded in return. The gavel went down once again. "Order in the court! The defendant is about to make his entrance." Zach stiffly walks back to his place pointedly ignoring Cammie's worried gaze. The wide doors swung open and an eerie silence descended. The reporters, who continuously had their cameras flashing, even paused to just watch. His chains clanked against one another with heavy footsteps accompanying them, the sound getting closer. With every step he took closer Zach felt his heart race a little faster. Cammie's hand enclosed Zach's tightly. Her grip a reminder that he was not alone. Never again.
This is it. Zach's whole life has lead up to this moment. He can feel it. The world may have cursed his existence, but he knows that this, bringing this man to justice, is why God brought him into this world. His mother never had the courage to seek justice, but Zach does. 'You are my living, breathing legacy Zachary, the absolute best of me.' With his mother's words echoing in his head, Zach steps up to take the stand one last time.

The moment we've all been waiting for is finally happening! The next chapter is tough to write. I finally get to introduce Trevor, Zach's dad. Writing him and forming him into an actual person is a lot harder than I originally thought it'd be. For me, Trevor is suppose to represent pure evil in the form of a human. As a person who advocates kindness and positivity in my everyday life, writing him is quite challenging. Sorry it's short, but I'm working extra hard to make sure this finale is everything I hoped it would be.
See ya soon!
