"Lord, help me trust you even through the unexpected twists and turns of life." - 2 Corinthians 4:16-19

The drive to their house was dead silent. Cammie's parents offered to go in with Zach, but he refused. "I just need Cammie. I can't do this without her." "Of course. Me and you against the world remember?" Cammie responded as she squeezed his hand tighter.
Two hours. That's how far away this monster lived from him and his mom. Zach masked his anger by tightly closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. Cammie patiently waited outside the car, giving him as much space as he needed, but still staying nearby. Zach will always be grateful for her.
The woman who answered the door resembled his dead mother in a way that Zach didn't expect. She had his mom's structure and blue eyes. Although, this woman's shade of blue was too dark to be his mother's. The woman cleared her throat and tried to smile, "Hello, you must be Zachary. My name is Natalie. We've been expecting you." Her eyes darted around the yard once, twice, before speaking. "Be gentle with them will you? All of this is such a huge shock to us and my poor Madi is suffering the worst." She trailed off before stepping back and letting them pass though.
Cammie and Zach followed Natalie down the hallway and turned into a new room. "Kids? There's someone here to see you." Zach's hands started to sweat and shake. He didn't understand why he was so nervous. He didn't do anything wrong, but somehow felt as if he did. He knew his father was a bad person, but from what he gathered from the police and news articles he knew his wife and kids didn't know what was going on. Well, besides Madison. No matter how this ends, Zach was glad he could at least save her.
Once in the living room Zach's eyes immediately zeroed in on the two kids standing before him. Their faces were faced down and the boy had his arm around his younger sister. "Noah? Madi? This is your br-uncle Zach. He came to meet you." Natalie said.
Zach was prepared for everything. At least he thought he was until his eyes met crystal clear blue ones. With a strangled gasp, Zach realized he was staring at his dead sister.
