I initially wrote this story in 2015. Four years have passed and my writing has changed.. so here's the new, edited story.
I however, have decided to instead change the reader perspective into an OC, as I find those easier to write perspective wise. Hope you understand!
Story begins to develop more near the end of Chapter 2 :)

The sun had peaked it's way throughout the warn - out tent, it's rays casting warmth inside that made it feel almost like a fire. Almost.
The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes, was the absence of bodies in the tent. It fell silent, except for the sounds of the birds alerting me there was something out there, that I wasn't alone. But I knew that. I wasn't alone, because there was horrifying monsters out there, who once they got a hold of me or anyone would sink their flesh-hungry teeth into your skin, yearning for more.
You would be alive as they did this, using their hands to grip and pull anything they could get a hold of, and you would feel the blood rushing through your open wounds, feeling the pain coursing through tell you felt nothing at all. Your screams would silence, and you would be food for the dead tell you were the ravenous hunters you feared the most. That was what waited for us now in this cruel, cruel word.
My body ached as I stretched in bed, a popping sound alerting me of how much my body hated me through sleeping on the ground for what's been days on end.
Letting out a coarse yawn, my throat screamed for some type of liquid to settle the feeling of it.

Tanya reached to her side, pulling out a metal bottle which she greedily drank. Her hands ran themselves through her long hair, ripping out any knots without any care. If one looked close enough, you could see her face wince in the pain, before she gave up and through her hair in a ponytail. "Damn." She mummbled, stretching her tired muscled before she reached for her clothes that laid beside her.
A simple tank top and a belted pair of jeans clothed the girl, a pair of combat boots she had before the dead decided now was the time to awaken and seek their revenge rested on her feet. The tent was zipped close behind her, a knife she got as a gift attached to her hip. Her gaze lingered around, her tent was on the outskirts near the forest from the group. A part of her liked it that way, seeing as she didn't know them. Another part of her, hated it. They've been with this group for sometime now, and they still act like they aren't together. Lest she admit it, but the girl knew what her fellow tent mates were planning, and despite her morals telling her it's wrong, she liked being with people she knew, and these people weren't.
"Tanya," Carol, a middle-aged wife and mother spoke, a smile on her face, "Had a good sleep?"
Tanya studied the girl who dawned a smile on her face, despite the constant bruises that littered her skin. She wouldn't dare mention it to the woman, or to the husband alone, but she wasn't dumb and she heard the sobs late at night when she passed their tent. Ed was a sick man, and even more he was a pig. She felt pity for the woman who couldn't stand up for herself, "As good as it gets." She spoke, her eyes lingering around the campground. Daryl was no where in sight.
A sigh of disappointment left the woman's lips, and Carol let out a soft chuckle. Tanya looked at the woman, a glare forming. Whats so funny?" She snapped, her arms crossing over her chest defensively. "He's not here." Carol shrugged, a small innocent smile looming her face.
Tanya rolled her eyes, looking away from the weak woman in front of her. Even then, she couldn't blame her. Carol loved Ed, and she loved Sophia more. "Who said I was even looking for him?"
