"Dad, where's my book bag!" I called out from my room."It's in here kid!" He yelled back.
I let out a huff before making my way into the living room to find my dad and eleven digging into eggos.
"Damn, you couldn't wait for me, could you?" I ask, letting out a soft chuckle.
"Hey now, you know eleven can't wait when it comes to eggos" Dad mumbled, stuffing his mouth with more eggos."Oh yeah? And what's your excuse roast beef?" I grinned, earning a slap on the back of my head.
"Anyway I'm heading out" I groaned, before grabbing my school bag.
"Ain't you gonna eat breakfast, baby?" My dad asked, putting on his plate in the sink.
"Nah, I'm already 15 minutes late" I simply said, with a small smile.
"Make sure I don't get any phone calls from your principle" he said, while kissing the top of my head.
"Bye Curly" I smile, ruffling El's hair before kissing her temple and making my way out the door.

"Stevie, I missed youuu" I smiled, while tightly hugging my best friend, after not seeing him for two weeks.
"Of course you did, who wouldn't" he smirked, causing me to lightly punch his arm with a giggle.
"So where have you been the last two weeks?" I asked while opening my locker.
"Just busy, I guess" he shrugs, leaning on the locker that's next to mine.
"Yeah sure, busy with Nancy Wheelers" I smirked, wiggly my eyebrows.
"Dude" he groans while holding the bridge of his nose before letting letting out a low chuckle.
Steve and Emerson. Emerson and Steve. We've literally been best friends since kindergarten. I remember it like it was just yesterday.
☆ Flashback ☆
"Children, gather round, I want to introduce to our new student, Emerson Rose Hopper. Everyone's say hello to Emerson"
"Hello Emerson!" The class of 5 year olds called out but one kid caught my attention quickly.
He was sat there. Not making eye contact with anyone else. Quietly playing with his Tonka Truck.
"Hey" I softly called out, approaching him.
"Hello" he spoke quietly, still not making eye contact. Just then, this other kid came out of nowhere, grabbing the boy's Tonka Truck before crushing it, causing me to wince.
His friends around him started laughing, encouraging him even more. "Hey! You should not be laughing" I yelled, with an angry look on my face.
"You did a mean thing to a little kid" I continued. "Oh yeah! And what are you going to do about it?" He challenged before folding those thanksgiving turkeys he called his arms.
Without thinking, I walked up to his and kicked him really hard in a place that should never be kicked.
Long story short, me and Steve became best friends and I got sent home on my first day of kindergarten.
End of flashback
It's really ironic how much the tables have turned seeing as Steve was the one who got picked on and 11 years later, he is now the king of Hawkins high.
"Hey we're having a party tonight, try and show up, okay?" Steve said as more of a demand than a question.
"Depends Harrington, who's gonna be there?" I questioned.
"Probably just you, me, Tommy and Carol. Remember, just like old times. Messing around outside by the pool while my parents were out" he went on and on, trying to convince me.
"Fine, I guess I can come" I gave in, causing him to grin and pull me into a huge bear hug.

Me, Steve, Carol and Tommy were walking to Steve's locker when we came across the Wheeler girl and her friend Barb, revising flash cards. In one swift motion, Steve grabs the flash cards out of barbs hands.
"Hey" she called out in her whiny little voice. Smh.
"I don't know, I think you've studied enough nance" He states, while looking through the cards.
"Steve-"
"Don't worry, now onto more important matters. My dad has left town on a conference and my moms gone with him, 'cause, you know, she doesn't trust him." What is he doing?
"So are you in?" He asks with a hopeful look in his eye. This asshole.
"In for what?" Nancy asks.
"Yeah Steve, in for what?" I ask folding my arms, giving him a glare.
"No parents, big house" Explains Carol.
"A party?" This girl man.
"Ding Ding Ding" they all laugh, clearly mocking her.
"You know what, I need to get home, later" I say, rolling my eyes before walking towards the exit.
"But I thought I was dropping you off!" Steve called after me.
"Why don't you just give Wheeler a lift home" I yell back before making my way home, seeing as the walk wasn't long.
Why am I like this? I know for a fact I'm not jealous. I mean, Steve's my best friend. I couldn't possibly have any feelings towards him. That's just crazy.
It's just that I haven't seen him in ages because he was too busy bumping nasties with Nancy to even remember me. I thought that tonight would just be like old times, the four of us raiding his father alcohol cabinets like the reckless teenagers we were. But with those two nerds coming, I'm sure that Steve won't even give me a second glance.
