Victoria began the short walk to school after hugging her Mother goodbye. She knew that nothing would change this year, and she would still be stuck in the outsiders group. Everyone would be busy in the morning talking about the great tans they received over the summer, or the expensive vacations they went on. She was pale, even for a Caucasian. She could have been considered almost albino if not for her dark hair. She had made sure to grab her library book, considering she would need it throughout classes.
The school came into view, and she could see everyone with their cliques almost immediately. She didn't belong in any of them. As she passed by the popular group, Jenny gave her the evil eye and leaned over to whisper furiously with one of the other girls. The girl had serious issues, and what she had against Victoria had clearly not been dropped. Moving on with a roll of her eyes, she was halfway across the courtyard when she heard a large roaring noise. Looking back, she frowned when she saw a motorcycle come barreling through the parking lot and stopping right in front of the building. She gaped and then chuckled under her breath. One of the boys must have gotten a new toy and was trying to show off.
Everyone began crowding around the vehicle as Victoria was forced to begin pushing her way through. She didn't care to see who it was, nor did she care about how much they paid for it. The last thing she heard before going through the double doors was a collective sigh from the females.
Preparing for her first class, she went to the same locker that she had for four years. Some part of her couldn't believe that she had been here for that long, or that she was about to be eighteen years old. She put her things away just as an announcement sounded over the speakers and kids began flooding in the front doors.
All students report to Gym A, soon as first bell rings. All students report to Gym A please.
She thought it was peculiar they wanted to have a meeting before school began, but maybe there was a cheerleading routine. She headed that way a bit early, and settled herself at the top of the bleachers in the corner. She pulled out her book and began to read, ignoring the gym as it began to fill up with teachers and students. She heard the meeting begin as the teachers were introduced along with a small dance routine from the cheerleaders. Everyone hushed once the principal came to the microphone.
"We have a special student with us here today. He is new, and I hope you can welcome him just as you welcome each other every year."
Victoria tried not to give a face at that lie, and went back to her book without looking up. For some reason, she kept feeling eyes upon her but ignored them, thinking it was one of the popular girls still holding a grudge. She could hear the females sigh once again along with a mutter of 'he's so hot!'
She figured she knew it was a male, and immediately lost interest. She hadn't had any luck with the males at Blue River High. The ones that did like her were mostly know it all's or, let's face it: assholes. She hadn't had a boyfriend all of her years of growing up. It was getting to the point of her family believing she was lesbian.
"He will be joining the Seniors this year. He also has interest in the football team. So boys, you do a good job of welcoming him. He has never played. His name is Xavier Alexander." Before the principal could say anything else, the football team jumped up and hollered, bumping chests in a strange display of masculinity. But she had no interest in watching them. Her head shot up, her gaze pausing on a tall boy in the middle of the gymnasium. He had black side swept hair, blue eyes, a blue shirt on and dark blue jeans. It couldn't be...but...
He was staring right at her.
