Victoria made it to lunch without incident. Xavier had been nowhere to be found, which was a relief to her. She wasn't prepared for that conversation. She also knew the entire school was talking about her at that moment, whispering filling the hallways as she made her way through. She grabbed a lunch tray, sitting down to eat in her usual corner at the far side of the room. She opened her book just as someone sat down across form her. She glanced up and prepared to sprint.
That didn't last long.
"Don't move."
His stern tone pinned her to her seat, her breath catching. A quick scan around the room told her she was mostly safe, considering everyone had dropped what they were doing to listen in. Who knew what he was capable of? Apparently he can go from doll to human...
Victoria tried to keep her lower lip from trembling as she spoke in a low hiss. "I know who you are." He leaned back in his chair, having the audacity to get comfortable. She had to admit, he looked better as a human than he did a doll.
His long, unkept black mess hung in his stunning face. He had defined lips, and a strong jawline that was holding a hint of a five o clock shadow. Not to mention the shirt and pants were not doing justice hiding what built frame was under. She compared the two in her mind. As a doll he seemed more boy like, now he was a man. Trying to push the sudden heat in her heart and between her legs away, she focused on what he was here for.
"We cannot speak here. I wish to speak with you alone," He muttered, his voice angelic. Victoria barked a short laugh, shaking her head.
"You think I would trust you after what happened? Half of me still believes I am dreaming!" She half wanted to slap herself awake. No way she was sitting across the table from her used to be doll. She would wake in her bedroom, sunlight pouring in...
"Cute. But I am not asking you to trust me. I am asking you to speak with me so I can explain." His expression turned pleading, and she almost didn't catch the words that came out of his mouth. At least he was straight to the point.
"Is this some kind of joke? Because it's not very-" Victoria was interrupted by a familiar, fake set of high heels and blond hair.
"Hey, Xavier. I'm Jenny Hackle. I just wanted to welcome you to Blue River High!" Giving her a death glare, Victoria sat up straighter and cleared her throat on purpose. As if Xavier had read her mind, he stiffened and did not bother to turn around in his seat. She could not believe his next words.
"When two people are speaking, you do not interrupt."
Victoria almost lost it with Jenny's face alone. Her genuine confusion quickly became replaced with anger as Xavier stayed nonchalant. "Um...excuse me?"
"You heard me. Now leave us be." He stated this calmly, as if he had not just given an order to another human being. Jenny gasped, appearing like a fish as her mouth opened wide. She snapped it close, not used to rejection obviously. Victoria beamed at her, causing her to huff and flip her hair as she stalked away. The thought of hugging Xavier for that caused Victoria's legs to heat up once more. Crossing them, she gave him the beginning of a smile in which he returned.
"You may have just ruined your reputation there." She teased him, her posture relaxing a bit. She could make out Jenny whining to her friends. "I told you all she was a witch! She probably brainwashed him by now..."
Xavier frowned, shrugging his broad shoulders. "She is not of interest to me. You are, however. Do you agree to meet me?" He leaned forward, causing her to get caught in his gaze again. Not that she was beginning to mind. She now laughed at the fact she was scared of him before. Nothing about him screamed danger. In fact she would go so far as to call him an old friend. A hot one. Trying to hide her sudden inflamed cheeks, she glanced down at the table.
"Yeah. Whatever. Where do you want to meet and what time?"
Xavier raised his eyebrows and pulled his lips into a small smirk.
"Your house. When your parents have fallen asleep."
Leaning back, all her unsure ideas rushed back into her mind. He wasn't helping the whole 'not trying to kill her' thought.
