"Hey, what's wrong?" Lucas asked sitting on the floor to see Robbie's face properly. "Ang gwapo nung kuya mo tapos ayaw mo man lang tignan."
She chuckled, "kapal ng mukha."
"Well, tumingin ka pa rin sa akin." he pointed out, "anong problema?"
Instead of answering, Robbie enveloped her brother in a tight hug. They stay like that a little longer before Robbie decided to break the hug.
"Pwede na ba malaman ni kuya kung anong problema?"
"I'm scared, kuya." she admitted. "I'm attracted to Kyle and I don't even know him for more than two weeks. Natatakot ako kasi I never felt this kind of attraction towards anyone else before. Sobrang bilis lang pero ang strong kasi kuya. Attached na ko masyado sa kanya. I don't like it."
Lucas smiled, "it's okay. Mahaba pa naman na yung panahon para mas makilala mo siya. To know, if that attraction will become something else. You just have to let it be."
He held her hand and gave it a little squeeze to ease her anxiety, "alam ko lagi namin sinasabi ni ahia to guard your heart pero hindi naman namin sinabing wag mo subukan."
"Kuya..." she mumbled trying her best not to cry.
"Wag ka umiyak. Ano ka ba!" Lucas laughed while wiping her tears. "Mas maaaway ko si Kyle niyan pagnagkataon kasi wala pa nga umiiyak ka na."
"Kuya naman eh."
"Just give it a try. Let your feelings be. Subukan mo lang."
She flashed a faint smile, "paano kung hindi naman worth it?"
"What if he is? Hindi ko sinasabing sumugal ka kasi kaibigan ko si Kyle. Sinasabi ko sayo 'to kasi kapatid kita. Kristina, sometimes you have to jump without knowing what's at the bottom. That's why it's called a leap of faith."
Matthew who's watching them, smiled. He feels so proud of how mature Lucas is already, he remembered giving him almost the same pep talked years ago. He wasn't so sure if his siblings will be okay without him but, now he knows they'll be fine.
He knocked on the door to get their attention, "ice cream anyone?"
"Ahia!" she called before running to give him a hug.
"Oh. Baka matunaw na yung ice cream. Puntahan mo na. Magbibihis lang si kuya."
"Okay." she answered before making her way to their kitchen.
He gave Lucas a pat on his shoulders, "you did great."
"Sana nga kuya."
"We can't always protect her from getting hurt for the rest of our lives. Minsan kailangan niya rin yun para matuto."
