This either functions as the last straw, or an unfortunate downside to an otherwise good fanfic.

And that is....

Having dialogue from two separate people in the same paragraph.

"Hey." Killua said. Gon looked over, breaking into a grin. "Killua! Hi!"

You see, by the rules of English, it'd be this:

"Hey." Killua said.

Gon looked over, breaking into a grin. "Killua! Hi!"

Aghhhh...It really is annoying to see this. And is even worse if it's in something I really like.

Basically, this rule has to do with the separation of ideas between paragraphs. The dialogue from two different people are 'two different ideas'.

In function--basically--It makes your work easier to read. I can't count the number of times I've seen it NOT applied and went 'eh, wait, who's speaking?' and had to go back and re-read. In my example, it's very obvious, but there are plenty of times when it isn't obvious.

of course, making sure the reader knows who's speaking is it's own thing, but this and something that'll come in another Grammar & Spelling chapter are some of the largest factors.

ANYWAY, DON'T CONFUSE YOUR READERS DAMMIT.
