The rescue expedition that retrieved Eren from Reiner and Bertholdt incurred so many casualties that the corps couldn't function in the ways it formerly had without new blood. Commander Erwin's courageous act cost him greatly, and everyone's fighting confidence was seriously affected, so the remaining soldiers of the Survey Corps were put on hiatus for a few weeks as they waited for fresh recruits to become battle ready.
For most, this time off was welcomed and enjoyed. But for two in particular, it was hell. Just another opportunity for them to sink into the oblivion of fear, guilt and hopelessness. Humanity's Greatest Hope and its Strongest were suffering, and no one knew what to do about it, let alone Eren and Levi. Could they save themselves, and maybe, find solace in each other?
