Deeper than a Friendship

Chapter one ✨

"Omg! Omg! Omg!" "Alyssa why are you so happy?" "EMMA!" Alyssa shouted my name out like I had killed someone. "Today is our very last day of high school." She paused to see if I would catch on, but I continued to stay quiet. "Emma this means that we can go to college and party all night then sleep through our important tests. More importantly boys Emma, boys!" She is so boy crazy and I didn't forget about college I just don't care. If I told Alyssa that I would have crushed her. I know what y'all are thinking how could anyone hate the ideal of college, boys, and party's all night long. But just wait and let me explain myself. Yeah I love the idea of college, and party's, but when we go off to college we will lose each other. We are best friends and all, but we want different things. Once we all go off to a different college we will say that we will keep in touch, although it will never actually work.
A few months later we won't even remember each other. All of us will be to caught up in our new friends. Wait what if I don't get new friends. My breathing started to increase and I was spiraling into darkness just thinking about losing Lauren and Alyssa. Next thing you know everything goes black.
Thump!

Ouch! I stated to gain my site back, and realized I had also gained a terrible headache. "Where..um am...I?" I stuttered out the words in wonder. The last thing I remember was Alyssa talking about the last day of high school and a new start with college. After that everything was fuzzy.

"EMMA!" With that said I was greeted by a hug. My body was aching and the hug was lingering on a little to long. "Hey what happened I'm all sore?" I said again hoping for a answer this time. "You passed out in the hallway." I started to look around for the person who said that. Both Alyssa and Lauren were beside me, but their mouths weren't moving. Once my site fully recovered I realized I was in the nurses office. Nurse Penny stepped out in front of me. She placed her ice cold hand on my forehead while handing me a Advil for the pain at the same time. I took it, and told her I felt fine and we were sent on our way to third period.

I tried so hard to avoid any questions to why I passed out. No matter how bad I tried I had to answer them at some point. "Guys I'm fine I just got dizzy nothing important." Okay so I know I lied, but I had to. If I told them what actually made me pass out they would've asked more questions. Alyssa would have been heart broken that I didn't want the same she did. On the other hand Lauren would be over dramatic and stress out.
Riiinnnnnggg!
"Crap we have to get to class", Lauren said while sprinting down the hall. Alyssa and I ran off to our class that we had together. Trying not to be late again. Class was boring as always. Within the last 30 minutes of class Alyssa brought up the college conversation again.

"We never did get to finish our conversation." "Yeah! Sorry about that", I tried to change the subject but she kept going back to the same thing. "Well Emma what do think about college." How will I respond to that. "Well I don't know I just don't want to leave everyone." I hope that's a good enough answer for her. "Yeah right! By that you mean you don't want to leave Blake behind." Alyssa started to burst out in laughter. I was going to defend myself, but I didn't get the chance. "What are you two nerds laughing at?" Maddison said while rolling her eyes. "Wouldn't you like to know!" I coughed back at her with a sassy but subtle attitude that says I'm better than you and you know it. With those simple words said she marched off like she was defeated and couldn't bear for people to see I was the one who slayed the dreadful dragon.

After all the drama third period seemed to fly by. I had no more classes with Lauren and Alyssa. This seemed to make time go by a little slower than before. Now it feels like it is running by.

I was back at my house and I could barely hold my eyes open. Today has been the hardest day of the year! I was so exhausted, and I was ready to lay down and take a nap. I slowly started to drift off to sleep.

Alyssa and Lauren were calling me but I slept through it.

I finally woke up and....."Omgosh! It's 6:28" I slept that long. I sat up and checked my phone. I was not shocked when I found out Lauren called me twice, Alyssa called me five times, and I had two miss calls from the group chat. My head is still kinda hurting, and as much as I wanted to turn back around and go right back to sleep I had to call back the group chat!

"Hey Emma! It's about time you called us." Lauren was beyond stressed and now was just aggravated. "I'm so sorry. I took a nap as soon as I got home, and I just now woke up"... I paused between my sentences and started back up with... "Did y'all have something to tell me because you both blew up my phone!" "Yeah! Well Alyssa does." "Okay so spill!" I demanded to know what was going on. "Don't ask me Alyssa wouldn't tell me until she could get ahold of you. She said that she wanted us all to be together when she told us." Oh no! This must be big. I can't decide if that's a good thing or something to worry about. For some reason I didn't even consider the good news and went straight to worry! "Well Alyssa I'm here now so what is it?" "What is what?" Alyssa replied like she didn't know what we were talking about. "The news Alyssa! What is the big news?" Lauren blurted out. "WHAT! I can't tell it over the phone meet me at the café in about 5 minutes."
