"Home is where our story begins..."
The highway seemed to stretch on and on for Ziva. Not to mention, the traffic jam she was stuck in currently did not make her feel any less antsy. She drummed her fingers on the steering wheel and rolled her shoulders and neck side to side.
Eventually, the jam let up and Ziva was able to find her exit.
"Smooth sailing from here." Ziva whispered to herself and continued her journey home.

Of course it wasn't "smooth sailing" for Ziva David because nothing in her life ever went right. In Kindergarten, her favorite pair of sneakers were ruined by Tyler Hankins (aka the snottiest kid at Lee Primary School) because he decided pushing her in a puddle would be hilarious. In Fifth grade, her solar system project that she worked on for two weeks was stepped on by some clumsy kid. During her senior prom, some jealous bitch spilled fruit punch on her $500 Cherry Tree dress. She just found out her fiancé cheated on her. So, why was Ziva David so surprised when her car broke down exactly two miles from her parent's home?At this point, Ziva couldn't even find the will to be mad or upset. She just looked up at the sky, laughed, and said: "You must really not like me, huh, big guy?"
Sighing, she pulled out her phone and called her momma.
"Well, if it isn't little miss Birmingham." Ziva's mom, Lo, teases.
"Mom."
"Mhmm. Done went to the city and started acting brand new."
"Ma."
"You don't even call and check on your own momma. You ought to be ashamed."
"Mom." Ziva finally yells and Lo looks at the phone discombobulated because she just knows that her child didn't raise her voice at her.
"Ziva Celeste David, I know you did not just raise your voice at me."
"Sorry mom, I was just trying to tell you that I was coming home."
Lo squeals into the phone and tells her husband that their baby is coming home after 5 years.
"Okay, ma, can you listen real quick."
Loretta smacks her lips dramatically.
"I was listening, sweetheart. But go ahead."Ziva explains that she was headed home but her oh so reliable car broke down and she needed a ride home.
Loretta insists on having her car towed to their home and before she can argue with her mom, she was being hung up on.
Ziva rolled her eyes and put away her phone, knowing she had lost that argument.
Ten minutes later, a tow truck made its way towards her. Ziva's jaw practically hit the floor when the one and only Snotty Hankins got out of the truck.
"What's up, Snotty!" Ziva grinned and pulled him into a hug.
"Man, it was one time." Tyler said and rolled his eyes, hugging her back.
Ziva stepped back and looked at him.
"Man, it's been a hot minute."
"Yeah, it has. You finally grew a booty." Tyler says as he narrowly misses Ziva's fist.
"I know you ain't talking. But at least you ain't that snotty today."
"Never that, boo. I'm Swaggy T." Tyler boasts and pops his imaginary collar.
"Whatever, Tyler. You need to be loading my car."

The ride home was short and sweet. During the ride, Ziva asked about Tyler's wife and son that was due any day now and he asked what brought her back after all this time and she simply said that she missed it.Tyler pulled up to the David home and helped Ziva with her luggage. Her parents, well her mother, ran out to the porch and squeezed Ziva for dear life.
"Mom, I can't breathe." Ziva gasped trying to keep a grip on her bag.
"Sorry, baby. Ricky, get your ass out here and help my baby." Loretta yells and soon enough her dad emerges from the house.
"Hey, Suga! How's my baby been?" Her dad asks while giving her a less painful hug.
"I'm okay, daddy."
Ricky lets his daughter go and looks up to see Tyler.
"Thanks for getting my baby, Tyler." Ricky shakes Tyler's hand and then pats his shoulder.
"Anytime, Mr. David. Hey, Ziva. I'll catch up with you later, okay? I need to take your car to my dad's shop. He'll be glad you're back in town." Tyler says with a nod and then is off in his truck.
"I've always liked that boy. But, you wanted Marcus. Speaking of, where is he? I know he didn't let you drive all this way by yourself. I ought to knock some sense into that boy."
" Tyler is just a friend and he's happily with Malia and is about to be a whole father. And I'll explain Marcus later. But can we eat first? I haven't had Dad's cooking in so long."
Loretta gasps, dramatically, of course.
"Excuse you, I can cook, too, you know."
Ricky and Ziva look at each other with slight grimaces on their faces.
"Right." The two say simultaneously and Loretta storms into the house.
