Dawn's POV
The next morning I woke up to the sound of pots banging against the floor. I rolled over to find Sam gone once again. I grabbed one of his sweatshirts that I have made my own and walked downstairs.
"What are you doing?" I asked Sam laughing as he jumped holding a smoking pan.
"I was trying to make breakfast and I burnt it," He said moving over to the sink to get the pan wet.
"Let me help."
I walked over to his side and helped him make breakfast. Sam wanted to just make us breakfast but I knew the rest of the boys would come sooner rather than later. We made extra and not ten minutes into breakfast stampeding feet sounded outside.
"There's breakfast on the counter!" I called out to the boys. They let out a big whoop before digging into the food. "So what is everyone's plan for the day? Patrol I'm assuming?" I asked after the boys came up for air.
"Patrol in the morning and Bella's party this evening," Embry said.
"Why on earth would you go to that?"
"Bella invited Jake-"
"And Jake wants you to go. Of, course. All I ask is you make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."
"Will do."
Not a few minutes later and the rest of the boys left leaving Sam and I alone. I stood up from the counter to tackle the dishes. Sam came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my midsection and rested his chin on my left shoulder. I turned my head to kiss the side of his cheek before continuing with my work.
The rest of the day flew by fairly quickly. I called Bella and left her a voicemail telling her congratulations on finally graduating. Just because I didn't agree with her decision doesn't mean that I wasn't happy for her. Emily came home around Lunch with Kim in toe. They had decided that we were going to do a girls afternoon to clear our minds of all the Bella drama.
So we kicked the boys out of the house and did homemade manicures and pedicures. Kim had also found a recipe for a facial. When Sam walked in the door he looked at us like we were lunatics. The three of us shared a laugh before I told Sam to come back in a few hours. He only left after I promised that the evening would be ours.
Of course, fate had other plans. After our girls afternoon was over Sam kicked all the wolves out claiming that they had to find dinner elsewhere. He was met with grumbles and moans, but eventually, they did as asked and left us alone.
I walked upstairs and went to draw a bath to wash the day away. I heard the loud footsteps of Sam follow me upstairs. I had just gotten in the warm water filled with strawberry-scented bubbles when the bathroom door opened.
"Join me?" I asked.
Sam quickly undressed and I looked away from him. The water sloshed against the side of the tub. He got in behind me and I rested my head against his chest. Sam started leaving gentle kissed down the side of my neck. I let myself get lost in the pleasure however a door slam brought both of us back to reality.
Sam got out of the water and I quickly followed. We each got dried and Sam threw on his cargo shorts before handing me his shirt. I threw on his t-shirt and it acted as a dress. I walked out of the bathroom and over to the dresser to throw on a pair of panties and a pair of shorts before following Sam's retreating figure downstairs.
"What's going on?" Sam asked. He motioned for me to stay on the stairs.
I looked around his tall frame to see Jake and Paul fighting. Embry, Jared, Quil, and Sam broke up the fight and stood in between the two boys.
"I won't ask again. What's going on?" Sam asked using a bit more power to his voice.
"Jake here promised that we would help save the leech lover!" Paul spat out in pure anger. He started shaking and I backed up the stairs a bit more. Sam thankfully managed to calm him down without using his Alpha voice.
"What did you promise?" Sam asked in a calm manner.
"There's an army after Bella and Jake promised to help," Embry answered for Jake.
"What kind of army?" I asked from my place on the stairs feeling slightly scared for my friend.
"Newborns. Whatever that means," Quil said looking bored.
"So, what are we going to do?"
"Nothing," Paul answered sitting down at the kitchen table. "We let them deal with it themselves."
"And what if they hurt the tribe. If it was anyone but Bella would you be feeling the same way?" I asked trying to be the voice of reason. "Like it or not I think you are going to have to fight. If nothing else to keep your tribe safe."
"Then that's what we'll do. We won't do it for the Cullens or even Bella Swan but we will do it for our imprints and our tribe," Sam said.
That seemed to put an end to any more discussions and they began talking about a more light-hearted subject. That subject just happened to be Sam and I. I turned beet red and Sam proceeded to kick the boys our once more. They left with a laugh and a smart ass comment about using protection.
After locking the door this time, I dragged Sam back upstairs giving a small kiss. He turned the tone of the kiss from gentle and sweet to passionate. I let myself get sucked in but when I felt tugging at the hem of my shirt I put my hands on his chest and gave a soft shove. He pulled back with a slight look of hurt in his eyes but it went away when his eyes met mine.
"It's... It's not that I don't want this because I do," I started explaining. "I know that what we have is forever so I know that you are it for me so don't even go questioning that." He tried to interrupt me but I cut him off. "The only thing I'm worried about is what happens if we get pregnant?"
"Do you not want kids?" Sam asked sitting on the edge of the bed with me straddling his waist.
"I want to be a mom I just... I don't want to be a single mom. I watched my mother struggle her whole life to give me what little she could. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change it for the world but I don't want that for my child. I want them to know their father and not have to worry about if he left because of something they did. I never knew my dad and every day I wondered what it would be like if he was there."
"I would never leave you or any future child we might have. The one thing I vowed to myself was to not be my father. He was a drunk man who spent more time at the bottom of a bottle then with his family. The last thing I want to be is him."
"You are not your father. I know that. I just want to wait until everything settles down and we are living in the same state and I don't have to worry about whether or not I am going to see you again before we do anything."
"I will wait for you to be ready before we have sex. I love you." He leaned in and gave me a quick kiss to which I returned. We snuggled in bed and I let sleep take over my body.
