He's still married? That's impossible. Well, it technically is still possible.

"But why," I whispered to myself as I stared into the carpet beneath my feet. My brain had to steadily process the information dump that just occurred ten minutes ago. Jason not only stunned me but made me formulate more questions to follow-up on this wild story.

How much in debt are they in for the island to be foreclosed? How can so much happen between Jason and that woman and they have yet to get a divorce? Lastly, why the hell did Jason overshare his life to little old me? What was he trying to gain by telling me this dark part of his life?

"I need a drink." I went over to the wine case where various brands of wine were stacked in. I was about to pick up a bottle of chardonnay until I heard the house phone blare. I quickly grabbed the bottle with me and ran to pick up the phone before the call dropped.

"Hello! Lawson Residence?" I heard a deep, familiar chuckle from the receiver end of the call.

"You're already claiming the cabin as your humble abode, dear Stella! Love to hear you are transitioning smoothly into the swing of things," Matthew said with pride and assurance in his voice.

Oh, Matthew. How can a man be so positive all the time with what's happened in the past?

"No, it's all because of you that I am able to swim on my own. You've done a lot for me Matthew and I am just so appreciative of it." I was beginning to get emotional once the past few days flooded my memory. Matthew has been a true gem, and he loves this island with his whole heart. Only the devil would want this island ripped away from Matthew.

"Awe thank you, ipo. It's nothing really, I am just serving the queen of the island that's all! In fact, I wanted to personally take you with Jason and me to dinner and a show! Polynesian dancers from different cultures come out for every show! The tourists love it; A performance by the best group of young women you've ever seen! And, I scored a front table spot by the stage for the three of us. Isn't that perfect?"

Matthew sounded so excited and giddy to take me on this impromptu excursion. I would've equally been as excited, too, if it wasn't for the fact that Jason was going to be accompanying us. Like how awkward would that be? You've just spilled all ya damn guts to someone you swore you did not care for.

Reminds me of myself when I'm wine drunk. The embarrassment I tell ya.

"S-sure Matthew," I cleared my throat, "I would be honored and thrilled to see the show with you two. What's the attire?"

"Anything colorful and something that you can move your hips in!"

I decided on a green floral print cut-out top maxi dress and tan wedges. I put on the appropriate jewelry but paid extra attention to beating my face accordingly. I was slacking with taking cute pictures for Instagram and I needed to step up my game. If I was lucky enough, I could get a great action shot of me on stage shaking my hips, too.

Matthew and Jason were going to pull up any second now, and I was dreading it. Jason and I left our conversation off on a very rocky, open-ended note. Were we cool thunder buddies who could share each other secrets or was he still going to play that role with me where he seems to hate the world with me in it?

I didn't want to act weird with Matthew around and spoil the night, so whatever was supposed to happen tonight, I needed to make light of the situation. With that being said, I made sure to pack a light wristlet to bring with me and my sunglasses. I heard the beep of the truck, so I trotted to the front door.

I opened it and there stood Matthew in a nicely pressed Hawaiian button-up, tan slacks, and matching leather shoes. My lip poked out a bit once I spotted a gold chain around his neck that had the name "Rho" etched on it. Matthew removed his hands from his backside and revealed a bouquet of pink roses.
