Good Morning

Morning came as quickly as yesterday's evening left. My eyes fluttered open and I stared at the ceiling before actually moving. I reached over to my phone...6:58, right before my alarm should begin going off. I went into the clock app and deactivated my alarm for the day. I unplugged my phone from the charger to carry it with me.

Sleepily and clumsily, I made my way out of bed. I went to the bathroom first to do normal morning bathroom things. From there I went to my closet and picked out some simple clothes. It was just some light blue jeans, semi worn white sneakers, simple white socks, and a white graphic band tee. Nothing special but I'm just going to school so why look overly extravagant? I put it on and went out of my room towards Dahyun's room to see if she ended up going to her real bed.

I knocked on her door twice. Then once more. Then one more time. At this point I'm just going to work on the assumption that she's on the recliner. As I made my way to the kitchen my assumption was made correct by the figure that I could see out of the corner of my eye. Dahyun was still sound asleep on the recliner.

Due to me not wanting to wake her up, I stealthily walked around the kitchen to get bread and jelly for some toast. I opened the door to the refrigerator but instead of it being as quiet as I had hoped, as soon as I opened it up a bottle of ketchup came crashing down onto the floor.

Dahyun's head immediately snapped up at the sudden sound. She quickly blinked her eyes while looking around. She looked towards me and we made eye contact, she gave me a sleepy wave before getting out from under the covers.

I bent down to pick up the ketchup bottle. While getting up again I faced her and said, "Good morning," with a laugh. She laughed a little too then went to her room to get ready for the day. While she got ready I put two pieces of toast into the toaster and waited for them to pop back out. As I waited for them to pop out I decided to spice things up and make us a true breakfast.

Dahyun came out of her room in yellow plaid pants, a white tee-shirt, a beige beanie, and yellow shoes with black accents. It was a really nice and cohesive outfit that suited her to a tee. She took a seat on a stool at the island.

"Mmm," Dahyun hummed, perking her nose into the air and audibly sniffing around the room, "What are you making?"

"You'll see," I smirked at her with a mysterious glare.

"Humph," She mumbled back at me, giving me a disappointed look.

For the little while that we've been in Japan we've mostly been making Korean food as closely as possible with the ingredients found here. Of course, this was comforting for the two of us as we were two new adults in a foreign country. It reminded us of home but I thought that it would be a good time to take away the training wheels. Today I made tamago kake gohan, a Japanese dish typically eaten for breakfast which consists of cooked Japanese style rice mixed with raw egg and soy sauce. Hopefully, it will make for a good change of pace as we head off to school today.

I split the rice up into two bowls. Carefully, I cracked one egg and opened it over my bowl, letting the egg fall into the rice without any shells. I did the same for Dahyun's. Then, I put the bowls on the island, one in front of her, and one in front of what will be my chair. Before sitting down I grabbed a small bottle of soy sauce and placed it between our bowls.

"Ta-da!" I exclaimed looking at her and holding up jazz hands.

"You're quite the chef, Chaeng," She smiled at me while saying that.

I cleared my throat and explained, "This is called tamago kake gohan, a usual Japanese breakfast dish."

"Yeah, I know," She giggled a little bit, "We serve this at my restaurant, ya know. It's pretty popular actually and you seemed to have gotten it spot on. Good job."

I smiled at her and signaled for her to eat up. She happily did so. I followed suit. It was surprisingly good, maybe I should go out of my comfort zone more often.

The car ride to school was uneventful. Dahyun drove and we made a bit of small talk on the way. Mostly we talked about school, projects, homework, that stuff.

At this point, we were walking to the main entrance of the school.

"Dahyun, Chaeyoung, wait up!" A familiar voice shouted from across the parking lot. I looked back to see Jihyo running towards us as she basically dragged along Tzuyu with her. Tzuyu waved to us and we raised our hands back to her.

They caught up in a short amount of time. Jihyo stood beside me Tzuyu snuck her way beside Dahyun. We talked as we entered the building. Once again it was mostly about school, projects, and homework. Even though it was basic small talk it made the time go faster. We entered the building in what seemed like mere seconds even though we had to walk across a moderately large parking lot.

Jihyo opened up the door for us. We all politely thanked her as we filed inside. I went in last since I held the door for her to make her way inside.

I was met with tons of people crowed in the hall. Some were yelling for people to move faster. Others just stood still. It was a mess. In the middle of it, all stood three girls. All of them were gorgeous though one of them had their back turned towards me. One of them made direct eye contact with me and whispered something to the girl whom I couldn't see. The first girl broke eye contact with me and pulled away from the other's ear. The mystery girl turned around and we ended up making eye contact.

I let out a bit of a gasp in surprise and followed it up by breathily saying, "Mina?"
