The (Not So) Everyday Life Of Gumball

Cat Eyes and Whiskers

3rd Person POV

It was like any other day during lunch time. Everyone was talking, people were chasing eachother around, and Gumball and Darwin were having a staring contest? (And I know Anais has a different schedule than them but I'm going to make it so that she has the same lunch time as them.) Anais was the judge for this and just as Gumball's and Darwins classmates were passing by she said "I still don't understand how your eyes are like that."

Their classmates stopped and looked at Gumballs eyes and saw what Anais was talking about, they look like they're just slits and that they're barely there. But when they looked closer they noticed something else and it seems that Tobias was the first to point it out.

"You have whiskers?" He asked. He reached out to touch them but Gumball backed away thus making him close his eyes and fall off the bench and lose the staring contest. Darwin started cheering "Yes! Thank you Tobias I thought I would have never won!" Then Gumball once he got back up yelled "Hey that's cheating! He reached for my whiskers."

Then Anais said "Oh yeah why did you do that anyway?" Tobias answered "I wanted to see what they felt like since I never saw them before." There were several agreements from the group before Gumball said "You do realize that there are several sensitive places on a cat you can't touch unless you have permission. Like for example my tail, ears, and my whiskers. Whiskers are used to sense things and are there for touch and a bit of smell."

Anais then said "But what about your eyes why were they like slits?" Gumball sighed and told everyone to sit down which they all did. Once they were situated he started explaining "So as you all may or may not know cats are nocturnal and because were nocturnal we have night vision but how you just saw my eyes is how a cats eyes go when they're hunting or just doing things in general. Then a cats eyes could go really wide or really dilated depending on what's happening or what they ate or smelled but I'm not going into that."

They all nodded in understanding before Darwin said "Wait your nocturnal?! I just thought you had trouble sleeping at night!" Gumball replied with "Well sometimes but part of that is because I'm nocturnal and the other part is because it feels like something's messing with my tail. But why do you think I sleep during the day or rather take naps?"

At the mention of said tail it starts swishing back and forth drawing others attention to it while some continued to pay attention to the conversation. Then Anais said "No wonder I see you up at night sometimes, like your never even doing anything your just sitting there or walking around the house on all fours. Actually now that I think about it I've seen mom do the same thing guess I know why now. But why do your eyes glow?"

Terri then asked "What do you mean glow? Is it a bad thing? Does he need medical attention? Does it have to do with...germs?!" At the mention of the last one she started freaking out until Gumball said "Calm down! It's nothing that needs medical attention and nothing to do with germs! A cats eyes just glow in the dark. Remember cats being nocturnal? Beside they just glow in the dark in general even when it'snot nighttime but if it'sdark enough."

Then Sarah yelled "Hey can someone turn off the lights please I need to see if his eyes really glow in the dark!!" Then some extra turned off the lights and everyone in the cafeteria walked over best they could and somehow made it over to him and waited for him to open his eyes. Jamie who apparently thought he was taking to long yelled "Hurry up Watterson we don't have all day!"

Then he opened his eyes and they all gasped as they saw how his eyes really did glow and someone whispered "Cool! They look a bit like a yellow greenish glow!" There were several agreements and then Ms.Simian and Principle Brown walked in and immediately saw Gumball's eyes and screamed since they didn't know who it was.

In the end they fainted and the students quickly rushed over and put them on the bench, attached a sticky note saying sorry to each of them and then left the school and went home. However unbeknownst to any of them there was a group that was listening to their conversations since the day they started to notice things like how his tails and ears move.

Maybe we'll get to see them someday but for now they stay in the shadows...
