POV : Amaya
I woke up suddenly at the sound of my annoying alarm as I shut it down. I felt a major headache because of last night's crying. I look at my clock showing 0730 of the morning. I've promised Samantha yesterday that I'll come to college today.
I haven't stepped outside my room after the incident, spending whole two weeks crying alone in my apartment. Now I really want to get back into my previous life. Half a month's grief for that dickhead is more than enough.
Yes, I've decided.
**
I reached college at 0900. I am a student of master's degree in English Literature at Dales University and I'm one of the best ones. At least, having a soft heart proves somehow beneficial to me apart from all ruining of my love life. I can write about the pain I feel and I can do it extremely well.
I saw Samantha coming towards me with a big smile.
Samantha Williams has always been my friend for every situation. Even if she can't solve all my problems, the thing that is most comforting is that she has always been by my side. I met her at college a year ago and we readily became good friends very soon.
"Hey sweetheart! How come you're looking so beautiful?"
She said and hugged me."Don't tell me you're jealous!"
I replied sarcastically, hugging her back.
She laughed."It's so good to see you again here. I was dying without you."
Her face was clearly expressing her concern. I know what she wanted to ask and I know what I'm going to reply.
"Are you fine,Honey?"
Her smile was gone completely now."Yes, I'm completely over it."
I said with a forced smile to lessen her concern."Attagirl, this is exactly what I was expecting from you. Com'on, let's meet others. They were missing you so much."
We walked together towards canteen when Samantha was filling me with all the news from the last two weeks. I saw Joe and Mini from a distance sitting on a table.
Joe was Samantha's younger brother and Mini was my good friend back from high school. We are all classmates here.
They were talking gravely about something but when they saw me, they stopped and with both empathy and concern on their faces, they greeted and hugged me, explaining how happy they are to see me. We sat and talked about all the stuff going on in the college. Though I was quiet, I felt better with them.
When life is pain, friends become the painkillers.
"Oh my God!" I panicked at a sudden thought.
"I have'nt completed Prof. Russell's assignment. In fact, I haven't even started it yet and tomorrow is the last date of submission. What am I going to do?"
"Hey! Just relax. Don't worry about that. I've a good bad news for you." Joe said.
"What news?" I asked.
"We've heard that Prof. Russell had a conflict with the Director a few days back and he resigned. So there's this new Prof. here today in his place. Don't remember his name, exactly. Uhh..Ross, was it, perhaps.... "
"And he's already quite popular among the students." Mini interrupted Joe, excitedly.
We all looked at her for a while when Joe began to talk again.
"He won't ask us to submit previous professor's assignment. So you're free here."
"Thank God!" I sighed in relief.
Joe was right. It was actually good news for me. I was so sick of Prof. Russell's never - ending assignments. But how would be this new guy like? I wondered.
Does it matter?
