POV : Amaya

We head towards our classes when the clock strikes 1100. I've been hearing different comments about this new professor from almost everyone I know, since two hours, especially from Mini. He seems so enigmatic to the students. They were talking about his major popularity at his previous workplaces, his great behavior and charming looks, and coming up with several hints of his name, although no one knows it exactly, except his last name 'Smith'. From all of this, I obtained that almost everyone is eager to see the obvious - good-man, except me. I was just trying hard not to get lost in all my griefs again.

As I entered my classroom, all memories of past flashes back in front of me. I met him here the first time. A surge of pain rose inside me. But keeping those thoughts aside, I sat with Samantha at the back of the classroom.

**

We were leaving our classes for lunch break when Samantha stopped me.

"Let's go to the canteen, Amaya, I'm very hungry cause of all these boring lectures."

And it is Samantha. She got hungry when she's bored.

"No, please, I really want to be at some place quiet. The whole canteen is filled with the 'Smith controversy.' Can we go to the garden, please?" I request.

She stared at me for a while and said,
"Okay, fine! Now stop making this puppy face. You always do this to me."

I grinned at her. Maybe she's right.

"But at least let me grab some things for us to eat, otherwise I'll die with hunger and you'll be responsible for it."

"Yeah! Seriously. I wouldn't like to live with this guilt." We both laughed.

"Okay, I'll be coming in a while."

She said and left for canteen as I head towards the garden. It was my favourite place in all campus as I have a poetic soul that makes me a nature admirer.

I sat on the bench at the corner of the garden away from others. It feels quiet here.

Peaceful.

But soon after, my peace is bothered by an awful thing.

The cigarette smoke.

I was disgusted. I couldn't get people sometimes. Do they have no shame? Smoking inside a university campus! Disgusting!

The smoke made my lungs sick and I started coughing badly.

I looked around and my eyes fall on the black-clad figure behind me. He was sitting on the bench beside a huge tree, his back facing me, taking puffs from his cigarette.

I stormed towards him.

"Excuse me!" I said.

He ignored it as if he hasn't heard anything.

"Excuse me!" I said again loudly.

"I think you can't see that you're inside an University campus and we people don't want to fill our lungs with the stupid smoke from your cigarette."

"Who are the people? I couldn't see anyone around me."

He said in an impertinent voice without moving his head and continued smoking.

"Except me! I guess?"

"Not at all. I can't even see you."

He said after a while, still not moving his head a bit. Though, I can make a hint of a laugh in his voice.

Such an arrogant jerk!

"Huh! You know what, I'm really glad that you can't, because if I'd have seen your face, it'll be really bad for me to complain about someone the very first time in my life."

I said and turned to leave but his voice stopped me.

"Well then, you should really see me. I don't want to ruin your first experience of anything."

He put his cigarette into his mouth and stood up, turning to face me.

And the arrogant jerk is filthily charming. His charm caused me, stood there blank, foolishly staring at his good looks for a long while. He was tall and muscular, just as needed and extremely virile, his jawlines framing his bearded face perfectly, his lush black bulky hair slid backwards. He was wearing a black shirt, sleeves rolled up with a grey waist coat. A bit too formal for me. But he was exactly the man I crave for and regret after having such one in my life.

The last thought brought me back to reality.

Only then, I noticed that he was also looking at me with blank expressions, he took his cigarette from his mouth into his hands, without taking his eyes off my face.

I realized that maybe my silence made him this way. He was doing exactly what I was doing.

This is awkward. I turned my eyes away from him. He did the same thing.

"Like what you see? Now go ahead with your first experience, kiddo." He said smirking at me.

Oh this dunderhead! How dare he call me that.

"What? What did you just call me? You, old thing!"

"Really? You wanna know how old I am?"

"Do you wanna know how young I am?"

"I don't need to. I can see." His smirk grew as he tilted his head a little.

Ahh! Perv!

"You, have some shame, man."

"Oh! Teach me some." He said taking a step closer, constantly smirking at me.

I was red out of anger by now.

"Someday I definitely will. I promise. But for now..."

I took a step backward taking his cigarette from his hand, threw it over grass and crushed it with my feet, passing a winning smile to him.

His eyes turned from my face to the ground as I did it, but it doesn't seem to provoke him.

In fact, he looks amused.

"I have another if you want one." He said taking out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, offering it to me.

I couldn't be disgusted more in my life ever again. I said nothing. Breathing heavily in anger, I rampaged out of the garden towards the canteen, wishing I'll never see his face again or else I'm gonna commit an unforgivable crime.
