Dakota

"She's going to an a orphanage since she has no living relatives and the ones that are alive are either in jail or rehab" Alex trails off.

"Dakota" Kailee runs to me, crying.

My heart breaks into pieces as she squeezes onto me, tightly.

"I want to adopt her" I stand tall.

"Baby, you're only nineteen" mom says softly.

"I don't give a fuck!! I'll be a teenage dad! I don't care! Mama, that's the sweetest fucking little girl you'll ever meet in your life! I want her in my life!" I snap. "She has this long blonde hair! And she's short, and broke her wrist, same wrist as mine!"

"You're an Archer... they won't let you adopt her, ever. Plus, you are WAAAY too young for a child. You don't even know how to handle yourself!" she makes a point.

I sigh and look down. "Mama..."

"I know you're gonna try anyways" she sighs and I tug my lips to the side.

"I am"

"A single father?" Alex laughs.

"Shut the fuck up" I punch him.

"Dako, I love you, and it's amazing to see you wanting to help Kailee, but I think this idea is far too crazy. They will NOT let you adopt her" Gracie says softly.

"If you guys aren't gonna support me, then leave. I'm trying my fucking hardest to not let Kailee go to another home" I stomp and the flinch as I walk into the orphanage.

"Dakota..." a woman gulps.

"I'm here to look into adopting Kailee Merhens" I confront.

"Oh Kailee? We have many applications for her already!" the lady chirps.

"Yeah well, forget them, because I wanna adopt her and bring her home... today" I say sternly.

"Sir, we can't just let her go just like that. How old are you?" she asks.

I sigh. "I'm nineteen"

"I-"

"I know what you're gonna say. I'm too young. But I'm genuinely ready for a kid!" I look around.
