"Well at least I didn't lose a dog" Kailee smart mouths her brother as we walk up and down streets.

"Well at least I didn't offer to watch it" Dakota goes back.

"Would you two stop fighting? It's not gonna get us anywhere" I huff.

"At least I didn't get mad when the dog went missing" Kailee whispers and her and Dakota laughs.

I groan. "I heard that"

Let me explain what situation we're in.

Kailees best friend, Misty, is on vacation and Kailee offered to watch their dog.

Plus, a friend for Ruger for the week.

Buttttt, Dakota took his eyes off him for a minute and the mutt took off.

Now here we are.

"I see dog tracks in the mud!" Kailee runs onto the side of the road.

We follow it and there the little fucker is.

Carlo is just chilling next to a tree, panting like he's been running for hours.

"Little shit, GOTCHA!" Dakota picks him up and he yawns. "Oh fuck you"

We laugh and walk back to the house.

Mission complete.

"Cereal, check" I say as Dakota throws it in the cart. "Stop throwing shit!"

"Sorry" he laughs.

"So. Close!" a little girl tries to reach for a box of frosted flakes. "Urg!" she falls.

Dakota laughs, helping her up and grabbing the cereal. "Got it"

"Thanks" she laughs and a man with a baby and girl our age walks over.

"Catherine" the man chuckles.

"She's good" Dakota hands him the cereal.

The girl smiles. "I'm Gracie and this is my brother Jonathan and my nieces Lucy and Catherine!"

She has my name?!

Plus, nobody asked her who she is.

"Dakota" Dakota says and turns to me. "And my girlfriend, who's also Gracie" he laughs and the other Gracie laughs along.

"That's funny!!" Gracie says and Dakota looks at the baby.

"She's so cute!" he smiles widely.

"You can hold her!" Jonathan smiles and Dakota gladly takes him up on that offer, holding baby Lucy.

He's in complete awe.

"You like kids?" Gracie laughs.

I nod and Dakota nods in excitement. "I want one! They're so fucking cute"
