Despite the hype of the Square King Ranked Cup going live, Army found himself hospitalized due to a mass amount of injuries from insects and unable to participate. After breaking the news to his teammates they had luckily managed to get in a replacement to still enter the cup. Army mostly spend his days either resting at his home, or at matches taking notes in his manual. It wasn't exactly the most entertaining thing to do, but he was extremely limited by the thick casts plastered onto his limbs. He'd be lying if he said he didn't miss training and attending turf wars.
The S4 had just finished up a match and Forge was assisting Army back to his house as he was unable to walk himself. Meanwhile the rest of the S4 had went off to go purchase after-match drinks. Though Mask as tired and de-hydrated as he was, decided to wait till he had returned home due to his hay fever possibly flaring up if he'd were to take off his head gear. Skull had bought himself a sundae instead due to his odd cravings. This just left Rider with his coffee and Aloha with a tropical fruit smoothie.
"y'know Mask you could just get a drink and take it back with you." Aloha commented. "rather juuust waait until laater." Mask lazily had rested his head on the table "I'll probably leaaave sooon. The traains due inn 10 minutesss." Rider had glanced his eyes up from his mobile screen "Yeah, me too." he flatly uttered. Aloha turned to face Skull, who seemed to be completely out-of-the-zone "Whatchya got planned?" the purple inkling seemed to just snap into reality again while just muttering a quick "..training." Aloha rolled his eyes at his boring teammates, he had planned to invite at least one of them to go visit Army with him.
Time had briefly passed and Mask and Rider had both left for their trains while Skull just seemed to be staring off into space, as usual. Aloha took this chance to take his leave and ensured all his belongings were on him. He didn't see any point to say bye to Skull, mainly since he highly doubted he'd notice nor care. Aloha had remembered Army's home address from the times he had hosted meeting plans there. It was easily a short 20 minute walk from the Deca tower.

Army was spread out on his bed reading over the day's notes, correcting mistakes and updating past information. The room was quiet, uncomfortably quiet. He hated being all boxed up this way, and not being able to relax and cook was secretly killing him on the inside.
It's only two weeks.
...Felt like forever.
As he just thought of the long hours ticking by and days feeling like years. His lack of energy and hobbies had him stuck thinking to himself most of the time, and the more he did the more he was over-thinking and the more he felt worse. Though he was at least grateful that his team were generous enough to help look after him while he recovers. They mostly seemed to take shifts which are spread out between days. Currently White Sailor was the one put in charge for the day. She'd been mostly just checking on him every half hour or so. Nothing much.
He was taken aback by his house's buzzer going off, mainly since he'd never had plans with anyone coming up that day other than White Sailor. "..Hm? Who could that be?" Army questioned. "Not sure, S-should I let them in?" White Sailor chirped nervously. "I suppose so, It'd be rude not to." Army stated. With that White Sailor made her way to the Genkan room while nervously twiddling with the ebony coloured ribbon-tie on her shirt. She fiddled with the lock on the door and opened slowly it to be greeted by the Pink inkling on the opposing side. "Aloha, hello!" she skittishly greeted. "Oh heya~! Is curry boy home?" he playfully nudged her arm causing her to squeak "oh ah- yes, I'll lead you to him right away." She allowed Aloha in while he kicked off his outdoor shoes. "He's just in his room." White Sailor directed him to Army's room and walked with him inside.
"Aloha? What are you doing here?" Army sneered at the pink inkling. Aloha just laughed it off "What? Is it illegal to visit my friends now~?" he teased sarcastically. "We aren't friends." Army aggressively retorted. "Pshht ouch I felt that." Aloha finished the comment by dramatically putting his hand on his heart. "Please stop fighting you two!" White Sailor timorously chimed in hoping to settle the mild quarrel between the two squids. "I was just trying to be nice to my fellow teammate" Aloha shrugged his shoulders dramatically. "I don't trust you one bit, party animal." Army coldly stared down the opposing Inkling. Aloha chuckled nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck "Yeah I know, I just wanted to check up on how you were doing." Army felt a mild wave of guilt wash over him, but tried to ignore it.
...Perhaps I was a little too harsh..?
The room fell silent yet again, White Sailor then checked her phone "Oh! Army, I have to leave soon. Is that okay with you?" Army looked up at her "Of course." "Thank you Captian." she smiled and walked out. This just left the two boys on their own. "Maybe I should go too." Aloha muttered, it felt unusual for him to be serious in tone. "Wait." Army cut off Aloha's actions. Aloha seemed puzzled at the action. "I apologize for what I said earlier, it wasn't professional." the orange cephalopod apologised. "Don't sweat it, it's fine!" Aloha reassured him. Army mildly chuckled "you're not so bad." letting a small smile slip onto his lips.
Aloha laughed "I'm sorry that it's only me who came over, the others had things to do." he awkwardly apologised. "It's fine, at least you considered even visiting me. It's a little tiresome only seeing my team visting me." Army stated. Aloha felt a little bad for Army, he knew that he'd hate it if he had to give up battling for injuries. "Hey, tell you what. I promise to visit as much as I can. Just to make you feel less isolated. Sound good?" The orange inkling felt taken aback from the offer "Are you sure? You really don't have to." Aloha elbowed the other's arm lightly and winked "Don't sweat it, it's fine~!"
"....thank you Aloha."
Aloha smiled and started to approach the door frame "You take it easy Curry boy." Army watched after him as he left the room. It was his first proper out-of-battle conversation with him, it was nice to not be in the middle of a heated screaming match with the guy.
"I guess it's true that two odds can make an even in friendships." Army thought to himself listening to click of the door shutting and locking behind the visitor.

Okay woah so this took an embarassing amount of time to write, I'll try to get out more chapters as soon as possible because I know how annoying it is to read a story and have it be cut short due to a small amount of chapters.
Also for anyone who's wondering a 'Genkan' is a room in Japanese houses that people leave their outdoor items in (shoes, jackets, umbrellas, ect.) I thought it'd be appropriate to base the houses on Japanese apartments/houses since well Splatoon is a Japanese game and in the manga they reference alot of Japanese dishes in it as well. It'd only really make sense.
Well um I guess I'll see you all in the next chapter haha byE.
