"It's 11PM."
"Seriously? It feels like this party has only been going on for an hour."
Army clicked off his phone and set himself back; completely exhausted. He was surprised that he managed to stick around for so long, parties were very much something he was not used to. Suprisingly though.... he was enjoying himself. Aloha was sat and the otherside of the brightly coloured sofa; a novelty pillow of a squid against his body as he rested his mobile against it. Most of the guests had left apart from a few Inklings Army recognised, Aloha and his team, Skull, one of the 'girls' from the school cardigan team with some unidentifiable inkling and shockingly, Rider and Goggles. Skull claims was only still there because he spaced out, which wasn't too unpredictable of him. The cardigan member was obviously not interested in talking with anyone else as they continued teasing the mystery boy, they were both clearly wasted. Their bodies swaying dizzily combined with rosy cheeks and slurred speech. Army was mostly impressed at Goggles and Rider being able to stay in the same room together, usually they were both at each others necks with Goggles projecting his annoyance while Rider argues back.
.
.
Army's train of thought was interrupted by Aloha nudging his arm and shuffling up to him. The inklings stared at eachother before Aloha signalled towards the blue and yellow-green inklings sat infront of them. Aloha made sure to slide up beside him before talking, to make sure nobody was eavesdropping. "Have you heard the rumor about those two?" Aloha whispered to him. "What rumor? You know I don't listen to gossip." Army hissed back under his breath "The rumor that those two are like a 'thing'." Army's eyes widened "...like a couple?" Aloha confimed the question with a subtle nod. "Would you believe it? I mean I totally would, have you seen how much time they spend together? something is totally up~" Aloha divulged. "I don't know, I never thought of them in that way. I suppose it makes sense but do you think that's the case? We don't even know if they're homosexuals." Army's expression shifting to a somewhat perplexed face. "Pfft, people will always try and pick up on sceret relationships. It doesn't matter how well it makes sense. Hell have you heard the stuff people have spread about me? It's hilarous!" the pink Inkling had to put a hand over his own mouth to keep himself from chuckling.
.
.
"Aloha... does that mean.. people have made stuff up about us?" Army pertubed; his cheeks brightening. Aloha went quiet, not wanting to admit to the next part. He knew it definitly existed, the stuff people wrote about them still disgusted him. It wasn't even just regular things about the two being intimate. he meant things like the many grotesque pieces of literature including bizarre themes and works of fetishes. He wasn't about to share his discoveries with his newfound best friend, especially not with his unsual feelings lingering around.
Those feelings.
The squid felt a realisation hit him, this was the perfect setting for him to try and get his feelings across to him. Maybe it'll finally help clear his head. His only worry was Army's reaction, it was weird. Aloha was normally always at ease with his flirting, but that was harmless and it had never meant anything. The other worry was the whole issue with sexuality, Aloha was sure Army wasn't the type to be in a relationship with a man. What if it ruined their friendship forever? The discomfort of having to face the cephalopod that put him down, especially due to the whole 'S4 working as a team' ordeal. Aloha worked so hard to redeem himself to this man, was he really willing to chance that?
.
.
The night dragged on, with almost every guest gone. Goggles was lifted out by Rider and dragged home as he had passed out from exhaustion. Aloha took advantage and made sure to mock Rider with some snide comment about the two going off to do unspeakable things, he was met with Rider flipping him off and storming out the door. That just left Army and the pink team, the group chattering, and erupting in laughter every so often. Though the orange Inkling stayed back and checked his phone's notifications, accepting that his personality would never work out with theirs. Diver spoke up "Ay yo, is Army staying over?" this made every head turn to the quiet inkling, who was leaning against the arm rest. "Oh dear no, I've bothered you enough. I'll head out within the next half hour." Army answered. Aloha began to act strange, subtle things like fidgeting. Army even swore he saw a few beads of sweat. It was most obvious by his rosy cheeks.
.
Aloha finally had an opening once his team announced they were retiring to bed, he had to be quick but he couldn't make it weird.
"Aloha."
The inkling's ears picked up to his name, he turned to face Army. "Are you alright? You're acting strange. You haven't been drinking have you?" the orange Inkling accused, his eyebrows forced into an angered 'V' shape.
Bullseye.
Aloha's expression melted into a smirk, he felt it. It was definitely time. "Why don't you check for yourself?" the Inkling's hands forming a light grasp on the other's shoulders, Army seemed taken aback as he burst into sudden fluster "Aloha- w;what do you think you're d;doing-??" before the two knew it, their lips had met. At this point, even Aloha had no idea what was happening. His body was just leading on without his mind, all his desire was melting out him. The pink inkling gently flickered his eyes open, ready to face his regret. Though what he saw was far from what he had predicted, the being across from him had given weight into it, his expression relaxed and his lids rested shut. It felt like a dream, no way this was real. It was just too good to be true. Without warning, Army had started pulling Aloha in by his shoulders, more force had been implemented into the kiss. It got the pink Inkling curious if he could push this further.
Army was met by a unexpected visitor pushing against his bottom lip, a tongue. As it gently rubbed against the opening of his mouth, it became clear what was being hinted. It came as a shock to Army, it was all happening so quickly, he had never attempted something like tongue-kissing. The orange Inkling counted to three in his mind and began to widen his lower jaw. He felt a shiver roll down his spine as the sudden contact of Aloha's saliva touching his own, despite this he pushed on. It immediately became hard to breathe as the two roughly began to push their mouth muscles against eachother. The whole situation turned very erotic with the two quietly panting any chance they could get. Despite their 'moment' only lasting a few minutes, it felt like they had been at it for hours. The two began to push away using eachother's shoulders; a wet smack emitting from their lips as they balanced a string of slaver between their tongues before snapping. Their first reaction was to try and get in a breath before speaking.
"Aloha... did we just..."
Army was first to speak, his face struck with disbelief; mouth agape and eyes widened. Aloha wiped at his mouth, still trying to take in everything that just happened.
"Y;yeah we did."
The pink squid locked eyes with the orange's. "I didn't know how to say it, I'm sorry Army." Aloha began to apologise, his face burning. Army surprisingly chuckled "I didn't either. At least we're out now." Aloha didn't expect his reaction "You mean, you felt the same way?" he whispered. Army grasped a hold of Aloha's hands and nodded to him. The pink Inkling broke the moment by asking "Shouldn't you head back? It's past Midnight." Army quickly jumped up in realisation "God, you're right. Thanks for reminding me." he looked at Aloha with a welcoming smile. A rare sight, but a welcome one.
"Say, why don't we catch up tomorrow. Treat it like a date."
Aloha's heart fluttered hearing the word 'date' slip from the Cephalopod's lips.
"Count on me to be there."
Army's foot was about out the front door before Aloha stopped him one last time, the squid averted his attention to the other. Aloha had one last thing to say before they depart for the night.
"I love you."
