Chapter twenty eight: The bridge

Nozomi's pov

The next day Kushina told me to guard the bridge with Sai and Sakura. Naru, Sasuke and Nanami still couldn't climb trees without using their hand so they stayed behind to train with the two jounin sensei's  . I sit on a crate with Sai to my right and Sakura is standing not to far away watching the road leading up to the bridge. I look at the men who are working with Tuzuna to build the bridge and to be honest there  wasn't a lot of workers. Tuzuna told use there used to be more but they left because they where assaulted by Gato's men and wanted to keep their family's safe. Tuzuna said he understands why they all left but because he has lost almost half of his workers the bridge will take twice as long to build. I saw the state the village was in when we walked here this morning. Gato has been robbing these people of everything they have. I saw children begging instead of playing and men working all day to feed their family but only getting enough to put scraps on the table. These men working for Tuzuna where working towards a better life for the entire land of waves no just themselves. I decided that I couldn't just sit and watch anymore. I jumped off my box and walked towards Tuzuna who is hunched over some blue prints nearby. 

"  Hey Tuzuna I have a question" I say once I reach him he looks up at me then back down at the blue prints.

"ask away kid"

"How meany more people would you need to be able to finish the bridge in about two weeks"

"hmm...Probably thirty more workers why do you ask kid?'

"There is a way I can get you the workers you need"

"Kid nobody else in town is brave enough to work on this bridge"

"I wasn't talking about those in town. I was talking about me" Tuzuna chuckles and shakes his head.

"Kid I don't think you know how to do math. I said I needed thirty worker and there is only one of you"

"That's nothing a few shadow clones won't change" 

" A few what?"

I make the required hand signs and a cloud of smoke covers us. once the smoke clears there are  thirty shadow clones standing behind me. 

"Now for my second question. What do you want them to do?"  Tuzuna looks amazed. 

 "I-I need more wooden planks  from the shore brought onto the bridge, some of my men could use some help getting the support  beams in place and we need more nails and blots from the village."

I assign fourteen clones to get more planks fourteen to help put up support beams and the last two got sent into the village to get the needed supplies. 

"Kid...thank you"

"No problem old man I'm glad I can help"

I turned around and walked back to the crate I was previously sitting on and saw Sakura staring at me. She looks like she couldn't believe what I had just done. As I pass by her I say.

"Our village may call me a demon they may say that I am evil. I hope that this shows you that they are wrong."
