Homecoming week
It was late in the evening when Lauren was dropping her friends off from their previous sleepover and Dinah was the only one left.
"You ruined my chance, Lauser." Dinah sighed looking at the neighborhood houses as they drove by them.
Lauren kinked an eyebrow and laughed. "For what?" She asked turning out of Normani's gated community.
Dinah rubbed her eyes. "Lauren you know how much I like Mani." She played with her fingers, nervous how Lauren was gonna take this.
"Yeah." She shrugged. "I mean I always thought you had strong feelings for her. You could tell of how protective you can be. I mean just look at how you protective you were with her hair and roasted my brother at the same time." Lauren smiled.
Dinah smiled remembering, but returned to what she wanted to talk about. "Yeah. But do you know what happened before y'all silly stringed us?"
Lauren took her gaze off of the road to Dinah and saw how distraught she looked. " N-
Dinah panic when she saw the car swerved when Lauren took her eyes off the road. " Eyes on the road Lauren!" She screamed turning the steering wheel straight.
"Fuck, I'm sorry!" Lauren cursed putting her hands back in the steering wheel. She cleared her throat. "But no, I don't know what happened." She replied. "Was it important?" She asked stopping at the red light.
Dinah nodded slowly. "I was gonna ask her to homecoming." She replied barely audible for Lauren to hear. "You know how long it took for me to be able to do this?" She cried out covering her eyes and hitting her head on the dashboard.
"I'm so sorry Dinah... I didn't know that you were doing that. If I did, I would of waiting or something like that. I'm really sorry." Lauren apologized cursing herself for ruining such an important moment for her best friend. She felt really bad.
Dinah sadly smiled. "It's okay I mean you didn't really know it was happening but that didn't stop me from being really bummed out." Dinah pointed out. And it was true, you couldn't really blame her.
There was comfortable silence until Lauren spoke up. "Are you going to ask her again?" She question making a left turn to Dinah's neighborhood. They all didn't live too far apart from each other. That's one thing that Lauren loved.
Dinah sighed. "Honestly I don't know I might again." She responded. "You should ask Cabello though." Dinah smirked poking Lauren's rib.
Lauren choked when she heard what Dinah said. "Uh... I don't really think that's a good idea. Personally I don't want to go to the dance.
"You have to go!" Dinah whined.
Lauren looked at her with her eyebrows raised. Dinah then remember that Lauren doesn't like parties and remember to not push her if she didn't want to.
"Oh I'm sorry Lauren. You know what? If you don't want to go, it's alright I don't want you to feel like I'm pushing you or anything.
"Plus Camila just broke up with her boyfriend. She may need some recovering." Lauren spoke. Knowing that Camila seemed happy as ever.
"Are you sure because I couldn't just swore that I saw you guys all cuddled up when we watched Hocus Pocus that day." Dinah giggled.
Lauren blushed. "She was cold.." she shrugged parking in her driveway.
"Lauren that's a dumb excuse given the fact that we all had blankets and I'm pretty sure the thermostat was on heat." Dinah crossed her arms.
"Oh look, your mom just got home from work you should go say hi," Lauren said changing the subject.
