Chapter 7
I didn't know what to expect when my father called me to his office.
I walked slowly, taking my time.
''You needed me?'' I said as I walked into his study.
''Well, it's time for a talk. I don't want to wait four years to see my daughter again,'' Like you care, ''So you need to do something that's going to keep you out of trouble,''
''Where are you going with this?''I asked in bored tone.
''Do you remember Tony Harold? He used to coach the little league team you were on when you were a kid. Well. he's the assistant coach for a team called the 'dogs'.'' The 'dogs'? Was he serious?
''I'm a girl. I can't play sports.'' I told him
''You're a girl, you shouldn't have went to a detention center.'' He argued back.
''So what? You want me to play on some baseball team so I can stay out of trouble?'' I asked him incredulousy.
''It'll keep you busy. Practice starts at 5:00 am sharp. Don't be late.''
My mouth dropped,''Wait what? We didn't even have to wake up that early at the center!''
''Well, kid. You're not at the center anymore. You're home.''
