"u-uh namjoon?" she stood there awkwardly, her clothes dripping with water that made its way down to the floor with little splashes each time it made contact.
he hummed in response and looked over at her, stopping to take off his shoes. "yeah?"
she looked down at her clothes and then back up, hoping he'd gotten the idea that it was pretty awkward and embarrassing to be stanting in the hallway of your boss' house, drenched in rainwater.
"ah that. i'll give you some clothes to change into. are you feeling cold?"
is he being... nice? she thought to herself. namjoon, at a first glace, would look like a polite young man, but working in the office, rayeon had seen his true personality: dominant, bossy and very demanding, and she had grown out of the feeling of him being sweet and kind since it had been so long.
"thanks and yes i am." she replied, still suspicious of namjoon's kind behaviour.
"i'll get you a towel and some clothes to change into. you can use my bathroom, i'll use the guest one."
"ok." she says watching him walk off into his bedroom. rayeon's been to his house a few times, but most of the visits were only to hand in or collect some documents and paperwork, and now that she's inside his house, all she can do is take in the beauty of everything that's in her eyesight. the plants, the artwork hanging on the walls, and the beige shade that was applied onto them. she drags her hand across the wall, taking in the softness of it. as rayeon looked across to the other side, she sees another painting, and this one is familiar to her.
the memory of them sitting on the bedroom floor at her house, paints and brushes scattered all over and various shades of paints, too. she smiles at the memory. the memory of them looking into each other's eyes, lips beaming fondly and eyes overflowing with the love they shared.
both rayeon and namjoon shared a passion for painting and art, and of course astronomy too. what's a better date than sitting down and painting their heart's desires and their dreams, turning a plain and lifeless canvas into a universe of their own.
"it's my favourite." rayeon flinched at how close namjoon's was to her. she turned around and smiled.
"of course it is. i painted it." smirking, she turned back around and began walking down the hall to the living room.
"hey! i helped too!" she lets out a chuckle.
"yeah, joon whatever you say."
he walks up behind her and grabs her shoulders, turning her around. only then did they realise how close their bodies were. their wet shirts were touching, sending cold shivers through them, goosebumps forming due to both the close proximity and the coolness.
"h-here's your towel and your clothes." he looks away, frowning and tears threatening to fall.
"y-yeah. thanks." she takes the soft fabrics out of his hand and hears him tell her the directions to his room.
as soon as she steps into the room, she's met with a familiar scent of vanilla and oakwood. the walls are painted brown, except for the wall behind his bed. it's got pretty grey flowers and a gold outline.
it hasn't changed.
rayeon walks into namjoon's en-suite and places the clothes and towel on the platform next to the sink. letting out a deep sigh, she proceeds to take off her blouse and trousers, the action creating an unpleasant squelching sound.
she gently and quietly steps into the standing shower - she picked that over the tub - and turns on the hot water, the feeling instantly calming her emotions. she didn't want to shower for too long because namjoon wanted to talk and it'd already been half an hour since they entered the house. can't keep the boss waiting. she laughed thought. though namjoon can be a little cold at work, she knew that namjoon tries his best to keep him calm when she's around. she doesn't seem like it, but the people close to her knew that deep down she was extremely sensitive, although in the office she's a leader, never slacking off and always trying her best to help everyone out as well as herself.
she turns off the tap and reached forward to grab the towel. after drying off her skin, she steps out, nearly slipping off the mat. she looks over to the clothes and without a word puts them on.
dressed in an oversized black tshirt and really really baggy grey joggers, rayeon steps out of the bathroom, towel still in hand to dry her hair, and makes her way back to the kitchen where she sees namjoon holding two cups, both brown, and steaming with what she knew was coffee.
rayeon smiles for two reasons: the fact that namjoon doesn't leave any chance to show his love for the colour brown, and because of the feeling of nostalgia.
it's not everyday time rewinds itself for you, she thought, walking over to namjoon, who was also beaming at her, his smile radiating a thousand - maybe even a million - stars the night sky could never show.
