Nightmare and Dream were picking some of their mothers favorite flowers like the gay skeletons they are when it suddenly started to rain. Well shit. "Well that's just great", said Nightmare sarcastically. "Seems like it's gonna last awhile. Come on Nightmare. We can do this tomorrow. I don't want you to catch a cold", Dream said rather quite sadly. And tomorrow is a day I most definitely will not like. Nightmare quietly sighed and headed back to the tree along with Dream. The least I can do while everything is still "normal" is just try to have a good time… Who am I kidding?! I'll never be able to have a good time as long as those villagers keep despising me for my aura!

4 hours later…

Nightmare wakes up to the loud crack of thunder. Stupid thunder. Nightmare looks up to see patches of the night sky through the dark and stormy clouds. Nightmare sits up and closes his eyes. Almost everybody there was afraid of thunder storms. Strangely enough, Nightmare was never afraid of thunder storms. Not really because of how could it usually was, how loudly and brightly the lightning can get, or how close it can get to the village. He, more specifically, liked the way the rain sounded. He's always found it calming. It gives him a chance to relax and enjoy the scenery. He likes how it can help many things bloom after it has finished raining. He listened to the rain for a bit, layed down and then went back to sleep.

{In his "Nightmare".} (Lol. Get it?)

Nightmare opened his eyes only to see that he was cornered by a mob of angry villagers.
"What did you do to the tree?!"
"You monster!"
"Get out of here now!"
Nightmare was frightened. They villagers had murderous intent in their eyes. They want to kill me! Nightmare can see his brother behind the mob. Dream was scared— No— terrified. Terrified for his brother. Terrified of what the villagers will do to Nightmare. "Brother!!!!!" Dream had shouted to Nightmare, but it was rather useless because his shouting was being muffled by the shouts of angry villagers and the clanking of pitchforks and knives and other weaponry. Nightmare looked down to his right to see a black apple. I have no choice… He picked up a black apple and held it close to his mouth. I-If I don't do s-something t-th-they'll kill me! He opened his mouth and bit the apple.

{End of "Nightmare".}
Dawn had struck. Nightmare sat up in shock, gasping for breathe. I-It was just a nightmare! It was just a nightmare! It wasn't real! It wasn't real…! But he knew that nightmare would become a reality in 20 days.
He knows that he would someday fail as a guardian… He knows that he would someday turn Dream to stone… He knows that he would fail as a brother… As a leader… As a king… Nightmare closed his eyes and listened to the rain once more. He then began to hum a song the villagers taught him and his brother for it was their mother who had written and sang the song. It's only a matter of time where listening to the rain would become a bad memory…
